Hi,

I’ve started playing PvP recently and I’ve been browsing the forums and reading through strategies and stuff. I don’t understand this term “cleave”, like in “the attack’s lack of cleave makes it sub-optimal.” I know cleaving is what you’d do with an axe but I suspect it means something different in this context

Another term I don’t understand is peeling. Like in “you play hotjoin to learn to team up and when to peel.” It sounds like a strategy or tactic.

Cleaving is a melee weapon that can strike multiple enemies, most melee weapons on most classes
other than daggers (other than lightning whip on ele) or necroaxe have some sort of cleaving auttoattack/skills.

I don’t really know what peeling is but I think its having someone come in and help you so you can back out of the fight and recover health or something like that.

Peeling is more often used in AoS (Moba) style games where you have a definitive role for everyone based on the class (or character) that they are playing. The scenario would be where an enemy, or multiple enemies, focus on killing your teammate that is doing the most damage to them, or causing the biggest threat (ie: holding the point as a bunker, causing a lot of cc as a condi class, or doing a lot of damage, etc.). You would then want to either burst down those killing your ally, or use a lot of crowd control skills to effectively ‘peel’ them off of him so he can go back to being a threat instead of being dead.
