What is cooking useful for?
There are some really, really good foods you can’t buy. Especially the one that reduces damage by 10%
I make PvP & WvW videos
Food is the primary source of buffs in this game and is sorely underused except by those in the know. But like a lot of crafting, not a lot is profitable as a source of income as oppose to providing common buffs to your party/guild/raid group.
RIP City of Heroes
Well you should always have food buff on you that match the game mode you play. If you farm for gold and loot then wear karma/+gold/magicfind/xp food. Any other game mode depends on what you want more of so dps food, defensive food (mostly for wvw front liners) or any other food that suits the situation.
Many players do not use food for some strange reason and are missing out on resources or higher dps or defense. I mean whilst leveling you can add so much extra xp just by food, buffs and what not. And magic find can be booster up to huge numbers.
So if you have a chef make the food and it will mostly be very much cheaper. And if you have more materials then you need for own use, check the trading post too see what food give good profit and sell it
When I started playing, I thought cooking looked really cool, so over time as I played I maxed out cooking on my main. However, I have used it almost never. It came in handy making Mawdrey a little.
Other than that, I have rarely used it since maxing it out. It was fun to do so, lots of discovery and stuff. However, now I wonder if there are any recipes that are very useful for boosts or even gold.
Anyone have some suggestions?
Chef, huh, yeah
What is it good for
Absolutely nothing
Uh-huh huh

Say it again, y’all
Chef, huh,
What is it good for
Absolutely nothing
Listen to me
Ohhh, Chef, I despise
Cause it means destruction
Of innocent mats.

More seriously:
- http://gw2profits.com and use the “craft everything tool”
- Generally speaking, there’s profit in
- some crafted dyes (which and how varies with market)
- time-gated recipes (notably with foxfire).
- There are always some meta foods that are profitable.
- If you happen to own a mass-food recipe, many (but not most) are profitable to craft.
Thanks guys, I think I will start making more use of it.
There’s also some money to be made in foods you can craft used in other recipes.
You can gather potatoes and make brown dyes to salvage into brown pigment.
You can make meaty plant food.
I would argue this is the one of the most useful professions. An extra 2k hp is pretty op
The only problem is that the food that I typically use is cheaper to buy on the tp than it is to buy the mats to craft it. So my alt that has 400 cooking goes largely unused.
Empty kegs, for guild hall upgrades
Piquant plant food, for Mawdrey, it is time gated to one a day though.
Actually there are quite a few people who do not like consumables in an RPG it should be an option in my opinion but id you want the buffs to be permenant, so you dont have to consume them, allot of peolle like myself prefer permanent buffs in rpgs, hence the reason why in single player rpgs you ha e the options of crafting and alchemg being one of them in most.
