I have seen it in guilds that I have joined can someone explain server time to me?

It’s just the time at the ANet office. Not really the time on the servers themselves. You can set the game to display either the current local time or the server time in the minimap.

More specifically it’s Pacific time (US West Coast). It will change an hour one way or the other twice a year at Daylight Savings swap.

It is useful because that way people who are in different locations can use it as a point of reference for coordinating events.

That way they don’t have to specify time differences for time zones – someone can just state server time and everyone can see what it is in relation to themselves.
