Supposing I’d buy the Mystic Forge Stones for the Mystic Salvage Kit and the Black Lion Salvage Kit for money (money->gem exchange course atm is: 1,94 Gold for 100 Gems) which is mathematically the best Salvage Kit for salvaging lvl 70+ rares for Globs of Ectoplasm? And with best kit I mean the best price-performance ratio, I am well aware that the Black Lion kit yields the best rewards but is it worth 5 + Gold?

From what I read in another forum, the master salvage kit is just as good and that you don’t get a better drop rate from black lion salvage kits. I have started using master kits and am getting ectos. From what the people who looked at it said, the part that makes a difference is when you want to salvage runes and sigils and rarer mats such as orichalcum. For that you need the black lion kit for 100% success rate.

The best use of the Black Lion kit is recovering Runes / Sigils. Example: You get an exotic drop that you can sell on the TP for 7g, but you could sell the sigil alone for 9g + have a chance for ecto on the salvage. Just breaking down rares is a waste of the BL kit’s potential.

The only advantage to the Mystic Kit over the Master Kit is the number of uses. If you are in Fractals, or chaining multiple dungeon paths, this can be a huge boon for inventory management as you do not have frequent opportunities to vendor / salvage. Also handy if you’re chaining some events in Orr or elsewhere that can get a bit remote and fill your bags before you have a chance to vendor.

Black Lion 100%. Yeah its expensive and only has 25 uses, but for a 70+ rare I usually get at least and ecto other times will be 2 or 3, uncommon for me to get none.

As I see it: (1.5g = 100 gems)
BLSK = 18s / salvage
Mystic SK = 91.5c / salvage
Master SK = 61.44c / salvage
yes, BLSK has the best ecto return (around 1.4 ecto/rare), but MSK isn’t so far behind that it will make up that price difference (around 0.85 ecto/rare).
1 rare + BLSK = 1.4 ecto = 56s (40s/ecto) – 18s kit cost = 38s profit
1 rare + MSK = 0.85 ecto = 34s – 0.61s = 33.39s profit
on second thought… … so long as those estimates are correct… But: if the price of ecto goes down, MSK is better profit. If ecto price goes up, BLSK profit is better. gem price will play into this as well. If gem price goes up, BLSK and (to a lesser extent) Mystic kit profit will go down.
If there is anything even remotely worth something in the item, BLSK will have even higher profit.
I should also be noted: Mystic is cheaper than Master only if you can buy 100 gems for less than 0.93 gold

edit: apparently my gem price quote is a little out of date :P I should buy gems more often. if 100 gems cost 1.9 gold and 1 ecto = 40s: BLSK = 33.2s profit, Mystic = 32.87s profit, Master = 33.39s profit.
