Hey I have decided to give GW2 another chances, but I cannot decide on a class (profession) to play and hopefully you can help me.
I normally like to play least played classes, and classes with the highest skill cap/ skill ceiling and a steep learning curve, basically I like classes that are on a different level when played to the fullest.

From memory I seem to see a great deal fewer Mesmers and Necromancers (Least played).

I can’t really tell you much on the learning curve ones but someone else might. I enjoy playing Engineers and Guardians personally for a personal endorsement.

Engineers i think have the highest skill floor but the ceiling is then not too far from that still if your a kit engineer you have the most skills to work with and use right at the right times.

Thief has a low skill floor but an extremely high skill ceiling, you wont see many thieves playing the class to the fullest (flame me i don’t care this is my opinion) the reason people moan is because they don’t know and wont spend the time on figuring out how to fight and counter them, once you do that you will quickly notice that thieves generally are real bad players, except the exceptional few.

Mesmer has a medium skill floor and i am torn whether to say a medium or high ceiling it really depends, if your shatter mesmer you have a very high skill ceiling without much room for error if your a phantasm mesmer or a condition mesmer due to the builds you have a medium skill floor and pretty low ceiling.

Rangers, never played so wont comment but they look like ‘’fire and forget’’ at the moment with the current Meta of spirit beasts with them.

necro’s, medium i would say i found these (and engis actually) really easy to play in tournaments and WvW necro’s are more passive than active but have fun abilities.

thats my two cents if you want the most fun and unique classes to an MMO go with Mesmer (by far) followed by the engineer.

fun: Mesmer, Thief, Engi.

p.s. Elementalists are going through an identity crisis but can still be very good and they have a very high skill cieling too, however an extreamly low floor so like the thief pick up and play with ease as soon as you fight anyone worth there salt your toast (unless you know your class )
