What's a good use for Transmutation Stones?
Updated every Monday
Make a big pile of them and jump in them.
… Seriously, you get like 3 per map you complete, so you’ll never run out. I have a stack of about 100 basic transmutation stones because I don’t really care about my armor appearance until I hit level 80. If you have a set of armor that you really like the look of early on, use the transmutation stones to carry that look up to your level 79 gear. Then you can decide if it’s worth the investment to get some Fine Transmutation Stones for your level 80 gear.
They are used to combine the stats of item A and the looks of item B
I really don’t see the point. These are just using up space. I think I’ll just delete them.
What a useless reward for completing a map. Why can’t they give some more crafting mats instead?
Oh well.
Cheers.

Only useful if you care what your armor or weapons look like. A lot of people, including myself, do.

You realize you can stack them all in your bank? No need to carry them around on each character.

Good point. An awesome post as usual.
My bank is full, but when I free up a slot, I’ll do that.
Cheers.

If you transmute a damaged piece of armor… it no longer becomes damaged.
(I discovered this because I was leveling an alt and was keeping my Marks/Runes/Sigils though different upgrades)
A handy use of transmutation stones is also to keep the rune or sigil of one item and to apply it to another item. When you use a transmutation stone, you combine items so that you pick the appearance to keep, the set of stats to keep, and the rune/sigil to keep individually.
But you get plenty of them, so if there’s an armor set you like the looks of, they can be nice to have around so that you don’t have to give up that look when you get another set with better stats that doesn’t look the way you like.
Lankybrit, I wouldn’t destroy the Stones. Another thing they’re good for is transmuting upgrade slots. I.e., I got a new Greatsword that’s better than my current one, but I don’t want to risk losing the Major Sigil of Earth on my current Greatsword when I break it down.
Double click a Stone; throw in both swords; and I can choose the sword-look, the stats and the upgrade I like best. Boom. I have a new Greatsword with the superior stats and the Earth Sigil I didn’t want to lose. That simple.

I myself am really happy they are in the game.
If you just rush to 80 and don`t care about anything until then you`re definitely enjoying the game less than others, just take you time and have fun.
Transmuting items is by far one of the best features of this game!
Building your perfect armor set the way you want it: with the stats and the looks you want.
The only thing I don’t like is that, Fine Transmutation Stones (for level 80 items) are too rare imo.. I had only 5, and tbh I don’t even know where I got those from.. probably completing maps / dailys.. still not enough to transmute a whole armor set. But I guess that’s what the gem-shop is for……..
I don’t know what class you are playing (armor type) but for my light armor Necro I can’t have enough of those, there are just waaay too many armor pieces that look ugly. I don’t wanna run around like a rich mans daughter/18th century maid.. (The AC & CM Light Armor Dungeon Sets) I’m a Necromancer! And I got that already with my town clothes.
That’s why they are usefull.
And I tell you, if these weren’t account bound – the price would be insane on the TP.
I didn’t expect to use transmutation stones because I’m relying entirely on drops and not worrying about the appearance or the exact stats until I get to 80.
But even then I’ve found a few pieces which have great stats but have a look I really don’t like, and I get bored with using the HoM ones all the time so it’s nice to have the option to switch it.

Hey I understand everyone that it’s all personal taste.
So was transmogrification in WoW, which I didn’t touch.
So, I don’t really care at all how my character looks. I wish I could trade them to people who want them more that I do. I’ll keep them and try to upgrade and keep the slot stats as someone mentioned.
Cheers.

Yeah, I was using Transmutation Stones to keep a certain look up until Lv 80, and now I’m just storing things that look pretty until I’m sure I have everything I want. hahaha. I wish I’d even found one Fine Stone by now! I guess if worse comes to worse, I can buy them with gems…

Yeah, it is kind of sad that they’re soulbound. Just keep them in the bank for now until the upper levels, when you’re almost certain to want a couple of them to save your upgrades.
Just to give folks some idea of how many of the two types of transmutation stones you might expect to get in game:
I have 50ish of the fine stones stacked up, most were rewards from finishing zones. I have one level 80 and have used maybe 12 or 15 of the stones in the last two months. I have never purchased any.
I also have 40 or so of the yellowish ones, also received from zone completions and chests. I’ve never purchased any of these, either, but between all of my alts, I’ve used a lot of them and still have that pile left.
These have accumulated while leveling my main and three alts.

Like Dahkeus.8243 said these are GREAT for transferring runes/sigils from one item to another. This can really save you money especially when some runes like Dolyak are 1-2 gold each.
I saved them all for alts. I had my human guardian at level 2 in t2 shoulders/gloves/boots, t3 chest, and koda pants (from HotW). I used my pile of 100 to keep her appearance up to date with every stat upgrade.
It was fun to see the confusion at first when I started leveling. “Is that a bug? Are you really level 2?”
