What's best way to get T6 mats
use skill points that you have spare to convert t5→t6, assuming that the t5 mats haven’t also skyrocketed that is
But it takes all this just to get 20 pieces of that T6, right?
250 T5-mats of same type.
1 T6 of the thing you want
5 crystals – 3SP
5 Philosophers Stone – 1-2SP
Its alot of SP for just 20 pieces!

i’m not 100% certain if it’s different for other mats but when i did gossamer it took;
250 silk
5 crystaline dust
1 gossamer
3-5 philosophers stones(can’t remember the exact amount)
and that gave me ~10-40 gossamer
The mats I need don’t use the 250 recipe least I don’t think the recipe for the blood.claws, fangs ect… are
50 of t5 mat
1 t6 mat
5 crystaline dust
and philosophers stones I believe
even If I do that it’ll still cost almost the same probably even more depending on the price of the t5 mat, or farm about 2.5k of each t5 mat.
I’d say do a bit of both.
What I suggest is not farming a specific material. That is where a lot of people run in to issues with DR is when they are gunning for ONE specific thing, thus they tunnel vision and it hurts them in the end. Go in to the tier 6 mat areas and keep moving around. Since you’re going for all of them, focus on enemies that drop them (Karkas for Powerful Blood, aquatic enemies for Armored Scales, etc), but don’t linger. Circuits are useful if you want to farm.
Doing this, you will also run in to random events, etc, and other things you can sell. So, you can use that money that is gathered to buy mats.
If you are going for a legendary, I’d ALSO suggest looking in to the lucky clover recipe. It grants you either a clover at a 1/3 chance OR a random tier 6 material (with more mats for the high volume recipe) which led me to getting around 50 armored scales. Since you need the clovers anyway, it’s a good way to supplement your supply of both the clovers and the mats.
Hope this helps!
Besides converting tier 5 materials to tier 6 in the mystic forge, and the mystic clover recipe, have any better methods for getting tier 6 mats come out? I’m working on gift of Magic and Gift of Might right now and I need about 200 of each material. I have about 3 million karma and no use for it. Is there any way to use karma to get mats?
Lost Orrian Jewelry Box is a great way to sink karma and get rare crafting materials
Yeah, i checked that out but seems to only have a chance give karma jugs or lodestones. And the lodestone drop chance from the chest is incredibly low. What i need are the regular tier 6 mats, like bloods, totems, dust, etc.

sell them and buy what you need
Everything else is account bound.
I’ll leave this here for you as its a good read to get a general idea on how to make money and get T6 mats.
thank you, texzero. that helps a lot.

Oh God…reading that is going to kill me. Going to buy like 1000 bags and probably get 10 tier 6 mats

Your odds are actually greater than that. Also farming these is equally as valid. You should be able to amass 100-200 in under 2 hours of playing if you run event chains throughout Orr.

Oh yeah I get tons of bags in Orr when I do the events. I hope my odds are much greater. I never feel like I have much luck with stuff like this. Will buy a ton of these later and see how I do
There is another source of T6 mats everyone seems to forget about:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Heavy_bag_of_trinkets
These are from the grawl in Frostgorge, drop rates are similar per mob as the Cursed Shore risen, but grawl are not as numerous, so overall rate per hour is less. However the grawl also drop T5/T6 mats, usually totems and bones, and their wurm spawns drop sacs. You also have the usual blue/green/yellow loot table drops and Large Skulls.
There is a good farming location right near to where the Jormag’s Claw event kicks-off.
Get 3-4 players clearing that gully of grawl for an hour and it will be worth your while, particularly if you need a change of scenery from Orr …
EDIT: No vets or champs to deal with either …

The heavy moldy bags were an excellent source of T6 materials until the last patch. They still are, but the Pent/Shelter events where you could gain a whole stack of these fast were buffed with champions. This slows down the accumulation of heavy moldy bags if you are farming them at these events.
Still, they are probably one of the best sources for T6 materials right now.

The champions are only at events where there are a horde of players. If you don’t hang around the events where the zerg is, you can still do quite well.
He might start thinking he knows what’s right for you.

Sorry for the nooby question but what are the Pent/Shelter events? Haven’t been 80 for very long and I don’t really pay attention to the event text haha
Pent/Shelter events refers to the DE’s that take place on a regular basis in the Cursed Shore at, and around, Penitent and Shelter waypoints.
These involve defending these locations from risen attacks with lots of mobs, some escort missions, and the like.
It is considered a good source for mats and/or gold, you can expect to earn 1-2g per hour there by participating in these events,
Ah ok I thought it was those random events that always seem to be up. Thanks
^ What he said. Before the patch you could farm these events and ‘tag’ wave after wave of risen and get tons of heavy moldy bags. Now, these events will ‘scale’ with the number of players participating and champion level risen will appear. This slows down the amount of loot you would otherwise have gotten. These events are on a 10-20 minute timer, and if you are lucky you can run from one event, to the next, to the next, and then rinse and repeat.
And yes, there still are other sources of heavy moldy bags. But the Pent/Shelter/Jofast chain was an excellent source for lots of continuous bags and that has been slowed.
You can still get a good amount of heavy moldy bags by farming other events in Orr.

My favorite is the pre events for the gates of arah. So many waves of enemies come on that one part
The pre event for Arah is a great one! I forgot all about that because it has been a few weeks since I have farmed anything. I’ll have to remember that for tonight.

Do all the escort missions before the final escort to Balthazar only have enemies that mainly give LARGE Moldy Bags? That’s pretty much all I get there so it makes me not even want to farm that escort event.
I believe most if not all of the Balthazar pre events will give Large Moldy Bags. Like most of the risen on Straits of Devastation.
Malchor’s Leap and Cursed Shore seem to be the area to be for the Heavy Moldy Bags.
