I find fighting underwater is a real effort right now, there must be something wrong with my weapons etc. Can I ask what other gaurdians are using?
What causes the most DPS, spear, trident etc

Really a toss up. I tend to kill faster personally with Trident. You just have to combo your skills to do spike spams. Also doing aoe burst kills helps.

The problem with Guardian underwater weapons is that they force you into certain roles. You are support underwater and that is it so if you aren’t speced for that you’re gonna get stomped real easy under water. Im built for 2 hand survival but underwater a single enemy can down me if I am not careful, above land I can take on vets and multiple mobs.

hhmmmm…it’s all in the skills really and what your doing. earlier today I solo’ed 2 champion risen crawfish thingies in orr (L80+) and did just fine by myself. Using spear for heavy dmg then switching to trident when i go to 50% hp to regen.

They both have crowd control skills the trident locks your foe in place and the spear knocks them back several time so combo that with shelter for block+heal and “hold the line” and “save yourself” then 1 other skill of your choice and renewed focus for as your elite and you should be able to hang in the front lines in pve (don’t know about spvp since i never use it for that). this way you can stack block, and regen

Truthfully I find the Spear is better for dps, but the Trident is loads better for survivability, because the #1 skill for Trident on Guardians not only bounces to hit multiple enemies, it will also heal allies, or yourself, if it bounces to you.

Combine that with the ‘Hold the Line’ and ‘Save Yourselves!’ shouts, and Signet of Resolve for decent healing and you get to be pretty tough to take down underwater, add in Sanctuary for the times when you really need a bit of breathing room and you’re near unkillable.

@Sunspear General: I’m not aware of a Guardian spear skill that does any sort of knockback. The #5 skill actually pulls them in close to you, the #4 skill pushes your character back away from them, and #3 blinds enemies around you, but nothing knocks enemies back.

General is pribally refering to the 4th skill and not realizing that it knocks himself back instead of the mob.

The Spear is superior for single target DPS, while the Trident fares better for multiple mobs. The Trident also allows you to circle strafe the target(s) while still being able to maintain a decent amount of DPS.
