What's the fastest World Completion time?
I believe you can get a faster run with an Engineer post level 30.
If you’re aiming for a speedrun, I suppose everything goes, so instant level 80 from the start, along with scrolls and trait books. Nomad’s Ascended ready to go out of the box. Sigil of Swiftness and Rune of Vampirism.
Trait Speedy Kits and slot in Healing Kit, Wildcard, Rocket Boots, Slick Shoes, and Elixir U (is that the elite?)
Other traits should accompany survival moreso than damage.
In the Healing Kit, put your #5 on auto cast. When using Rocket Boots, also use the Gadget for Slick Shoes to get the bonus distance with Super Speed (max movespeed, more than swiftness). Constantly swap out and into Healing Kit for permanent Swiftness.
Rifle 5 can be used for more mobility across certain terrain. Rocket Boot Gadget may also increase movespeed, depending on terrain and current speed.
Elite form transform to get speed (pray for Juggernaut) and move along.
When interacting with any bundle or use item, always hold Healing Kit and use weapon swap to cancel animation.
Log out while waiting for WvW (obvious).
???
Profit.
I had permanent swiftness on the ele as well, that’s why I was running signets etc. I know it should be possible to do it faster because I didn’t insta lvl to 80, someone who uses an experience scroll and 60 tomes of knowledge and gets asc or exo armor immediately should obviously be able to do it faster. Same with the Wvw: I had completed it by lvl 40, including the “fighting sp’s” that can take quite some time being upscaled.
However, I’m not looking for the possibility if it can be done faster (I know that it can), I want to know if it’s been done already and what their time is. :-)
The reason why Engineer is faster is due to Rocket Boots + Super Speed.
Elementalists can get Super Speed while attuning to Air (through traits), and if you pair that with FGS3 (no longer FGS5), then you will be able to boost your movement. However, relying on a FGS to move is not very good uptime (since you can’t use both parts).
Additionally, you aren’t going to be using your precious weapon swaps (dropping Ele weapons) to interact with objects. Unless you carry a lot of bundles with you (good luck, the cheap ones have mostly been removed from the game).
Not everything in world completion is about the movement speed. It’s also about following the quickest route, getting rid of conditions, and completing hearts quickly.
But again, I didn’t intend to discuss the fastest way theorethically, I’d like to know times that have already been achieved.
I know, but I just wanted to point out that if you’re attempting a world record, you can improve a lot.
Additionally, Engineer has condi-removal, the only traits used take away 2 points, you still have 12 more to utilize for condi-removal.
Movespeed gets you from one quick route to another. The only thing you lack is a teleport (Lightning Flash on Elementalist) to bypass specific terrain.
Completing hearts faster through animation canceling on interactions will be faster than killing in some cases. In other cases, you could opt for not wearing Nomad’s. The reason why I chose Nomad’s is so you could have the path of least resistance and make a few more mistakes.
I believe Elixir Gun also has pretty good condi-removal, in addition to Toolbox + Shield for massive blocking potential.
But I’ve only done MC once, so what do I know.
i’m pretty sure thief can do it the fastest. There is no way engineer can keep up with thief.
And about the record, I think I can do it roughly 30 hours too. The problem is you need to sacrifice too much and play certain way just to make a record.
For example you need to be instantly lvl80 so you need tomes. You can’t waste time do your dailys on that characters, or any events. And it is probably a good idea to not even loot anything.
Not just runspeed, movement skills are important. Between fast spike DPS, perm 25% speedbuff and movement skills, thieves will be the fastest map clearers of all. Specifically, s/p+sb thieves.
I didn’t record the total timing when I world-completed on my thief, but it was about 30-40 minutes per map except Lornar’s Pass, which is like an hour to map-complete in rush mode. WvW is entirely separate though. That was using gear up to 13 levels outdated and the usual traits typical of the level though. An instant 80 with full Ascended Berserker out of the box would be way faster, but I don’t see the point in playing like that.
Including the time spent shopping for the next tier of gear every 13 levels or so, I believe that would have probably been about 24-26 hours, but I’ve no screenshot as I didn’t try for a speed record. I’m quite sure someone with the necessary prep can do the entire thing in 16-18 hours in a insta-80ed thief.
Also, I should probably state this was in the olden days when traits were a book unlock for the entire tier. New characters nowadays should find it much harder to be anywhere as fast.

Since when is +25% at all times faster than +33% at all times with the additional +50% on a roughly 16% uptime (with 30 points in Toolbelt).
Even if the Thief has Swiftness on roll (maybe also Swiftness on Kill or Steal) and is using Heartseeker and/or Infiltrator’s Arrow, they will then harm their DPS output and have to wait for Initiative. The only time it will be significantly faster than a Super Speed/Swiftness + Rocket Boot combination is when blinking to ledges.
Infiltrator’s Arrow is never used at the same time as Pistol Whip. When in combat you don’t move anyway (even if you did, it would be horribly slow with the combat slowdown), so you don’t need the initiative in combat – there is no DPS loss.
Swiftness on roll is not sufficient to justify taking the trait over the DPS amps.
Movement skills always outweigh the additional +8% in speeds. Warriors with the sword leap-greatsword WWA/rush combo also move significantly faster than engineers over the long term, but not quite as fast as thieves with IA and Steal-to-white-mob effects given how much faster initiative regen is relative to warrior cooldowns.
The easiest way to see this for yourself is to pick two points in a straight line and do everything in your power to move the fastest possible. Pick a relatively long distance so cooldowns actually have their proper effect. Then make the sprint in the various classes with a stopwatch. If you do the test it should be relatively clear what the effects are.
Also, super speed is no faster than 33% as the game hardcaps all movement rates to +33%. The only time you’ll see any of the greater % buffs is when you are in combat (cripple slows you even more but by definition whenever you’re crippled you’re already under combat slowdown effects). The only relevant speed skills for overworld movement in the engi are Rocket Boots, Rifle’s 5 skill and perhaps elixir gun 4, though nobody I know has ever used that leap for a speed purpose, none of which have a sufficient range/cooldown ratio that can match the warrior’s, let alone the thief’s.
If you really can’t do without permswift the superior sigil of speed is well known for stacking 3 minutes or more of swiftness. Personally I’d find the s.s.strength + s.s.air combination’s increased killrate is more significant than a +8% runspeed, but if you really must have it, that gives all classes permswift abilities as well.

I personally think thief is way faster than engineer. That being said, I’m not too farmiliar with engineer(even though I map complete 3 times on engineer). Feel free to show the build and weapon choice on how to map complete fast on engineer.
I think you over estimate the effect of 33% movement speed compare to mobile ability.
I personally felt mobile ability are much better than those 8% movement speed.
Also a good trick is to use sigil of air and fire and scholar rune. Give you good burst in the beginning. Idea for fast map completion.

0/0/5/3/6 Berserker D/D(orD/P)+SB Thief
Highest mobility in the game. (Fleet Shadow+high Stealth uptime)(plenty of Teles)
Can stack Might easily + 50% Fury uptime.
Also, can make a TON of Vistas, PoIs, SPs trivial with Shadow Refuge. (No need to clear mobs around Communing SPs/etc if you’re invisible.)(Can reset Combat Speed easily with Stealth.)
I haven’t done a MC Speed Clear but this kind of makes me want to try.
Nice job BTW OP.
28 hours for 37 maps fully completed. I’m going to call hacks.
You can’t waste time do your dailys on that characters
ironic, because dailies were introduced as “play how you want to play and get rewarded at the same time”
OP: is it purely solo map completion? I could imagine someone really shooting for a record, get the help of like 20 mesmers who wp ahead and portal you basically everywhere. objectives are close enough that one portal may work to go from one to another to another, but there will be times when you’ll have to use more to cover large distances. With expert coordination, I wouldn’t be surprised at a sub-10 hour map completion (hearts just take so long).
