I started as a ranger. I’m level 20 and I’m having moderate fun but I feel like I could experience this game better with another class

can I still double-class like in GW1?

So make another character and try out another profession you think you might enjoy more, and test it out in PvP to get a feel for max level. No one here will able to tell you which you will find most enjoyable.

It varies hugely between people.

I find ranger the most fun, although not with the stereotypical ‘bearbow’ setup (staying at range firing away with a longbow while your pet keeps the enemies away). I play with sword/torch and shortbow and I’m usually in melee range, or moving around a lot.

I also enjoy Elementalist (double daggers, or sometimes staff), and Engineer (pistols/turrets, grenade kit, bomb kit….not all at the same time).

But I know other people who have the most fun when they’re playing professions I find extremely dull and who can’t understand how I could enjoy the ones I do. As I said it varies a lot. The best thing I do is try a few (or all of them) and see what you enjoy most.

Ha! Very true.

Although, not always. When my husband started I was pretty sure he’d be happiest playing a guardian, or maybe a necromancer and literally had to bite my tongue when he picked an elementalist and then a Mesmer. I was sure it’d be too complicated, too bright and too flashy for him, but he really enjoyed playing both.
