I have over one million karma and am not interested in a legendary. Are there little things like the spy kits or tele guns out there I’m missing that are useful, or big things I can really sink this wasted currency on?
I guess the question is what do people even spend Karma on

not sure of much other than spy kits, there the new jewelry boxes that can net you some rare mats or other stuff to sell for money.

But then end game wise if your not after legendarys even gold becomes a bit pointless.

I assume you’re already in full exotics? There’s also cultural weapons I think that cost Karma.

Yeah apparently it’s all/mostly cosmetic stuff. I’m just holding on to mine until they actually put something useful/interesting in that can be bought for karma. Also I’m going to buy the most horrible looking armor possible for my charr mesmer(Sylvari racial looks hideous on charr!)

Armor, weapons, crafting recipes, food items, Jewelry boxes that give you chances at money, lodestones or a mini but more importantly allow you to transfer karma to a lower level character that can use it, trinkets… Lots of stuff. How many karma dealers are in the game anyway? If you were a GW1 fan, buy a broken flute from the karma dealer in Ebonhawke, buy booze, buy…

It’s money, just like gold is money — buy stuff!

The problem is that you can get max armor from dungeon tokens, so why waste Karma? Karma doesn’t take up inventory space like those tokens, so it’s always preferable to spend the tokens rather than Karma. Furthermore, most things from Karma are either complete RNG (the jewelry boxes) or completely useless (the several hundred karma vendors in the game). I have so much Karma, personally, that if I wanted to buy a specific skin from a specific vendor, it would be as a water droplet in an ocean. The worst part is that I already have stacks of Obsidian Shards for my legendary, too.

I think it’d be nice if more of those little doodad items like Spy Kits were actually useful. Many of the really useful ones like the Portal Gun or Skale Venom cost gold, where if they cost Karma I’d actually have some use for all of it. More of those would be nice. Also, the Jewelry boxes would be nice if they weren’t a gamble; spend 10,000 Karma on a Core of your choice or something would be a good way to spend it. Things like that would be nice.

Convert Karma —> Gold via Jewelry boxes.

Last time I burned 1M karma on jewelry boxes, I walked away with around 10g after selling the lodestones I didn’t keep. 4g on the ‘vendor trash’ items from boxes alone. If you don’t need Karma, but do need Gold, it’s a good means of converting it.

If you really want to abuse it, light off a karma booster, guild karma buff etc, and spam through all the liquid karma you get back with boxes, and keep cycling till you flatten your karma. You’ll be amazed how much you get from doing so.

If you want a stack of charged lodestones specifically… don’t hold your breath, but you tend to wind up w/ 1-2 lodestones in any given category over 1m karma. Your Results May Vary, GL!

If each of the Orr karma armor vendors sold different skins that would be awesome. Armor that is inspired by each respective god…. oh my word, that would be to die for!

Top tier eq (yes, ascended gear, i’m looking at you).
Apart from that? More consumables – not necessarily boost type ones (so transmog potions, fireworks etc are a possibility). More craft-related items (including resources. That do not have to be t6 mats – more things like sun beads for hylek weapons, i.e. are also cool)

It might be possible to do something based on god-related costumes from GW1. Some of those were really cool.

I like the jewelry box option. But outside of that a lot of the same things that we can use laurels on now. So… Laurels! Ascended items, minis that aren’t account bound, black lion keys, cultural armor. I never really understood why cultural was moved from Karma to Gold. More/different jewelry box type stuff — a flute case that has a chance at musical items like the christmas bells, a momento box that gives a rare chance at past holiday items/skins. Emotes. Let me use karma to buy the old Zaishen spear as a finisher. Speed booster buffs. Town Clothes.

But yes, more Karma sinks would be very welcome.

I agree on karma for ascended gear. Makes sense for the god-inspired armor to be ascended :P

I agree that ascended gear would be a good thing to spend karma on – i dont mind it to be “expensive” with 500k – 1mio karma per equipment piece (or more).
Also i don’t see a reason why this would be a bad thing since we could get exotic gear for karma as well and every single character needs to earn his own karma in order to get the ascended gear!

Other than that.. Lodestones or cores would be nice ofc but thats only another way to transfer karma into gold.
If you are looking for a karma sink, it would be great to introduce some more things like the jewelry boxes, which allows people to gamble. This might be boxes with dyes (like unidentified dyes, just with an adapted loottable if needed), fine crafting materials of any tier or just some uncommon masterwork-weapon-skins of items that are already in the game.

An ultimate reward that i would love to be able to buy for karma would be something that unlocks unique emotes, like new dancemoves or emotes that create some kind of light/smoke effects around the character and just look cool.

maybe hats for town clothes :P

basically everything that allows people to buy something useful or something to customize their character, but prevents people from thinking of karma as their additional gold reserve.

i would like to be able to spend karma on anything i could buy with gold, but have it account bound on purchase.

I personally would like to see Karma Vendors sell things like; Minis / Box of T6 Mats / Unique Armor and Weapon Skins / Emotes? / Guild Emblem skins / (this one is really farfetched, but…) Potions that Artificers can’t craft like Health Pots? ….

Anyway, I know some of those things are out of the question. Those are just some ideas. I used to play a game that had tons of different emotes and dances that you can purchase from various NPCs. It was fun, it was simple, it was cosmetic… why not?

I used to spend my karma on gear as I level and on exotics. Nowadays on the jewelry boxes, but mostly because.. ‘what else to spend it on.’

Saw some pretty neat suggestions that I agree with. Being able to spend it on Laurels would be nice, wouldn’t defeat the purpose of doing the daily either as it grants karma.
I’d also love some more special skins for karma. Skins that don’t come from the mystic forge, or from monster-drops. Just special karma-skins. At the moment there’s only the cultural amor/weapons that have ‘special’ skins so to say.

People on map chat were reporting getting about 2/3rds the karma they spent on those boxes back in the form of liquid karma. So you could use it as a way to transfer karma from your main to your alts to get them outfitted in karma armor. The gold you get selling the other stuff should mostly make up for the 33% you’re losing in the conversion.

I use up a lot of karma buying cultural weapons, a stack of spy kits for each alt, and fine and basic salvage kits (you can get fine salvage kits from some of the cultural weapons dealers, like the Charr). After I have gotten all the high priced weapons I want I plan to blow my excess karma on the jewelry boxes. I already have the exotics and I don’t want to do the Mystic Toilet for a precursor so what else is there to use it on?

There are tons of (useful) consumables and tonics for Karma… just search them all around the world
(consumables that give the possibility for permanent stealth / knockback all the time / permanent knockdown/ permanent stun/ chance to inflict weakness / give you torches —> useful Darkroom in WvW with invisibility / etc. etc….)

Are those real items or just wishful thinking orange? and if real where?

Unique skins only available for karma is nice. There needs to be more of that. Players would also probably like cosmetic things like town clothes, dances, auras, and animations. This is true for karma and the gem store.

I would kill a boatful of asura for some decent sylvari male town clothes.

of course real items… and if you are willing to spend gold then you can get even more consumable like teleportation gun / sylvari tower / Medipac / Rocks that are usable in WvW/ …

you can find them all over the world at some Karma Merchants or other npc merchants you just have to talk to everyone while you do world exploration.

i think i can remember most of the merchants …maybe i will do a topic one day with all consumables i know and where to find them… but you can also go to Wiki and you will find some of them there…
or you can just ask me ingame when you dont want to wait until you find them by yourself^^
