I have been playing GW2 for over a year now, and I have yet to come across a pre curser. I think I may have salvaged one in my first week of play, but im not sure I just remember getting an 80 level item when i was like 15, and thinking “what do i do with this?” Now, I have five level 80 characters, all of them (except my main) leveled mostly from tomes earned in pvp. I am wondering what I can do to increase my odds of getting a precurser. My magic find is around 120% not boosted. Are there certain events that drop precursers more often, are wvwvw zerg runs in EB a good place? I hear the world boss bonus chest are a great place, but all i ever get from them are rares. I did get an ascended bow from a guild rush/jp (cant remember which).

Where are the best places and methods to get precursers?

Unless you’re an RNG god I would just gold grind it and buy it off the TP

become a dungeon speed runner, get good at a bunch of paths and do them once every 24 hours or as often as you like, save gold and loot earned towards buying a precurser off the tp, use the tokens earned to puchace dungeon reward weapons from the dungeon vendors and put them in the mystic toilet for almost a 1% chance of precurser

or salvage the dungeon reward weapons and sell the salvage

Getting one from a drop is closer to the odds of being hit by lightning on a sunny day, possible but not something to base your planning on.

The mystic forge chances are so variable, it can literally be from only one forging to essentially never. This means you can’t decide ahead of time how much money to save, other than “a lot”. The most straight forward method is grinding gold and buying it, however you are then chasing an item with a constantly rising cost.

TL:DR every method is bad.
