What should you gather daily? What should you be doing daily?

What do you do?

You mean doing the dailies, or a daily routine? For the former, you can do any three mix and matched from any of the categories to get your 10 AP, and choose whether to do any more especially if they are fast and have nice rewards such as daily lumberer/miner/harvester each of which gives you a chest with more mats of that type.

For the latter, it depends on what you want to achieve. Explore? Work on finishing maps. Craft things? Do things that drop the relevant mats (but never farm for a specific drop, you’ll go mad with frustration). Get to high end fractals? Work your way up the fractal tier and build up your agony resistance gear as you go. WvW? Go there to do whatever escorts or sieges you enjoy. sPvP? Jump into the arenas.

What do I do? It varies. Right now I try to at least cycle through my alts parked at the VB flax farm so I can build up linseed oil. I should be hitting SW as well for coarse sand, but my usual SW alt has his bags clogged at the moment and SW loot will be frustrating. I have alts to move through the story, to explore with for HP for elite unlocks, to do metas for currency to buy pieces of elite weapons. And I like to relax with Wintersday activities and sell the booze from them.

When the mood strikes me and I have the mats, I make ascended components such as bolts of damask on spec that I’ll want them for something some day.

So .. crafting, exploration, alt building, RP if available, events, PS, dungeons, fractals, meta events, whatever floats my boat at the moment.

The only things I do every day are collect my login reward, mine the nodes in my home instance and, for now, log into the level 21 character I keep at the end of a jumping puzzle to try for a silver dubloon. But that last one will be ending soon because I want to use the character again.

After that there’s no pattern to it. All my characters are at different points in the game so they give me lots of different options and its just a matter of which one I want to play.

I hang out in LA and try to start map chat discussions.

Currently I do:
1 – Wintersday dailies, including the 15 orphan gifts
2 – PvP dailies
3 – At lest 3 ranked PvP matches for the league achievements
4 – Open JP chests on my lvl 21 toons
5 – Gather nodes in my home instance (sprockets + candy corn + crystal + wintersday present)
6 – Do whatever I want, can be play HoT story with another class, do some events in HoT, maybe some Raid, or just log off and watch some youtube or a series.

I’m on a “quest” to play through all the core storyline missions.

Teq, fractal, raid, gather flower, gather flax, gather homeinstance node, gather guild node, pvp daily and wintersday daily.

If you have your crafting up there are the ascended mats to make which you can either keep or sell.
