Guild Wars 2

Okay, so I’ve started playing in Beta and though I took a year off have been playing again in recent months. I have 8 characters, one of each class, and 5 of them are level 80s. I thought I knew the skills and abilities of all the classes pretty well, then this happened a week or two ago.

Some player, could not tell who, kept dropping this tree in the middle of the battle field over and over again, it was actually rather annoying because it blocked so much of the screen, but I’ve NEVER seen any other player use the skill before or after and I don’t recall ever seeing it when playing ANY of the classes.

Did I completely overlook a skill along the way? A skill so bad that NOBODY ever uses it ever in play, except this guy this one time, or what?
Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

That makes more sense. I’d never seen it before or after and if it’s a purchased consumable that could be why.

also I’ve used that consumable when playing around with friends, so yes, it could be either/both

That tree is a thief steal skill, when stealing off of a ranger. You can’t use consumable weapons in WvW. (which is where I’m assuming you saw it)

Edit: Ah sorry, took a second look at the screenshot. Since it’s not WvW it would be the consumable healing pod. I think you can also steal them off plant-based enemies? I’m not sure though.

No, as the screen shot showed, it was during Boss Blitz.

Okay then, sorry “slamb” I guess you were partially right after all. In this instance, in PvE, it had to have been the consumable item, but if it had been in PvP then apparently you’d have been correct.

I’m not completely familiar with the thief class, but from what i’ve seen, what’s stolen is based off it’s race and/or class (moas can drop eggs/feathers, for example)

since you’re in the area with bandits, there may be a bandit in there with a “ranger” tag assigned to it, and therefore dropped it when stolen

Well, as someone who ran the Boss Blitz (where the screen-shot was from and the instance in question happened) dozens and dozens of times with a Thief, I never got a seed off of anyone in there, even the guys with the bows who stay at range and attacked with arrows.
* The wiki suggests that the seed can be stolen Only in PvP http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Steal/Creature

Don’t use the image code, use the “more options” below the post and attach an image. You just upload (you don’t have to put it on Imgur or any such) and this site then has it. If you Preview and do that again, you can add another image, and another, and another.
