Hello,

Trying to make a new Sylvari character, and there seem to be some color problems with both the base character customization and the Total Makeover Kit customization.

The issue is there seems to be a bluish hue in all the hairstyles even though I have no blues selected.

My skin color is set to Shy Rose.
My pattern color is Pale Pink.
My glow color is Pale Pink.
My hair color is Dark Cotton Candy.
My eye color is Dark Cotton Candy.

Clearly, no blues anywhere. The only thing I can think of is that Sylvari have a hidden color setting corresponding to the Accessory Color tool belonging to the other races. I tried making a Norn just prior, and I set his Accessory Color to a blue.

If this is a known issue, I’d love to find a fix.
If it’s not, well, then I guess I’ll have to do a fair bit of experimenting. Otherwise I may have to abandon the thought of new Sylvari characters for the time being.

Thanks in advance!

Does the blue appear for every hair colour you select? Might be that the tips of your leaves are like accents that change depending on the hair colour, and Dark Cotton Candy’s happens to look blue/purple.

PSA: The amount of small felines serves as an indicator for just how angry I am at something.

Yes, for every hair style, both starting and kit-exclusive.

Just for grins, I deleted the character and rerolled with the exact same settings. The blue is still there.

I checked another race first to make sure the Accessory Color wasn’t blue; the default was an orangish red. I changed it to solid red just so it would be super obvious in case that was indeed the issue. But there’s no red on the new one.

On this new character, I’m experimenting with more color selections. The blue seems to exist on every hair shade that uses some amount of red. i.e. all the Cotton Candies, Peaches, and variations of Red. For the default colors, it even shows up on dark colors like Midnight Rose and Scarlet.

There seem to be other issues as well. For example, Starry Night has a red tint. For the most part, though, colors that do not use some amount of red as a base are seemingly unaffected.

I’m attaching an image of the effect on Chili Red hair.

I just checked it out on my own Sylvari It doesn’t appear on every hairstyle. Its just that one specific hairstyle you’ve picked that has the blue highlights by far the most prevalent, and then there’s maybe 1 or 2 others that have a faint blue to them. A few others have purple. Others don’t have much of a secondary color at all.

A lot of the Sylvari hair colors come with a secondary color on various hairstyles. Ditto for skin colors (my yellow Sylvari has green secondary skintones for instance, and on my male Sylvari my red hairstyle has green highlights). 99% sure its intentional and not a bug, but just a design choice to make them a bit less flat. I know some people don’t like it, but personally I think its pretty neat. In fact, the pink with the blue highlights looks really nice IMO.

For you specifically, if you hate the blue highlights and assuming you want a hairstyle that’s somewhat similar, maybe try the one 2 spaces to the right of the one in your original picture. That one has a very, very subtle blue / purple only on the lower leaves (barely noticable on the character creation screen and probably completely unnoticable in-game) and has a similar look to the one you chose originally.

I haven’t created a new sylvari character in a while, but many of the colored highlights in sylvari hairstyles are tied to the glow color.

Switch off the light (by clicking the lightbulb icon). If the colored bits start glowing in the dark, you can change the glow color accordingly. (I believe it’s under body type / skin color.)
