Well,

I am just a casual gamer – I only play GW2 for the dailys (laurels) few times a week – and now I am asking A-net:

You removed the BlackLionKeys from Lyn – You announced she will disappear with the next patch – So what to do with 250 Boxes of Commendations aka 250×50 = 12500 Commendations?

I mean; every option I get is kitten

1. Salvage Tools? Which I cant stack? So I can buy 1000 + of those items which I will never be able to use/finish in my whole GW2-career and which will only block the whole inventory?
2. Rare/Exotic weapons? Which I also wont use and which you cant even salvage? So another great option to fill my inventory with things I cant use?

Since you always say you care so much about the casuals and people who dont grind/play your game hardcore, tell me; what are the options for those with left over commendations?

if you didn’t want any of those things why did you make so many boxes?

If you made them for the keys, why didn’t you buy the keys at the same time you made the boxes?

I don’t understand why you would spend time and money to make a ton of something and then come here complaining you have a bunch of these worthless things…

You could get exotic weapons and forge them for a shot at precursors, but I second Zudet’s response – why didn’t you purchase keys as you picked up the commendations?

By the way, the casual gamer title is a tough sell with that many commendations on hand

My girlfriend was / is in the same boat and here’s the reason why:

They didn’t say -anything- regarding removing keys from Lionguard Lynne. She happily spammed the chat every 3 seconds telling everyone to come donate, they kept the recipe in the game while she was disabled. So you could actually create commendations while keys weren’t available to purchase.

Of course if ANET had come out and stated they didn’t intend to sell keys again, people wouldn’t have created thousands of these things with no where to spend them. There was nothing to replace the keys when Lynne came back and your only options were to spend them on worthless items or worthless skins that are kinda fugly.

One of the many dumb and disrespectful decisions ANET has been doing lately. Think it’s time to find a new game for me.

This and to complete the questions: Even as a casual player it was really easy to obtain those 250 boxes. You just needed 3g to trade 3 exotic trinkets and you could get 50 boxes via the forge.

I dont complain about the gold loss; it was a gamble – although it was a really unfair decision to take out the keys without further notice by Anet – BUT I complain about NO option left for those commendations (as u can see my dilemma in the first post)

Btw.: Since I cant salvage the items I doubt I can throw them into the forge either. Anyone tested this so far?

Too late to worry about it. Lynns is now gone since the patch went live 5 minutes ago.

From the wiki:
“Added new personal rewards for participating in guild missions. These rewards can be purchased with commendations.”

I was curious if those were the same commendations. probably not. If it were the old commendations, they would of said “purchased with Captain’s Council Commendations”
Things you can do with lots of commendations (provided Lynns wasn’t removed today, but rather at the end of the month, when they said she would be):
1) buy salvage kits – some items on the TP can be salavaged and the materials sold for a small profit – provided you have free salvage kits. might want to download some sort of auto-clicker to avoid carpel tunnel (187,500 clicks is a lot). even if no/little profit, every 200 salvages gives you 2 achievement points – with that many kits, its around 1,875 achievement points.
2) buy all of your characters 10 stacks of each harvesting tool and 10 stacks of salvage kits
3) buy all of your characters exotic gear to wear until they get the ones they want
4) buy level 80 exotic weapons (which can’t be forged or salvaged, btw), transmute them with a fine T stone with a level 80 basic item of the same type, /then/ toss it in the forge for a sellable exotic, or salvage it.

Okay…. I dont think you did get my point; I am a casual player…

I dont have 5 lvl80 characters waiting to get equiped with exotics.
I dont have the space and any use for harvesting tools (which could NOT be stacked).
I dont have dozens of fine T stones to do as u suggest.

Furthermore someoneelse was right, Lynn got removed, so those boxes are really useless now since those “commendations” for the guild stuff are items of their own kind.

you could probably have done the same as the fine T stones, but with the rare armor she sold and normal T stones. probably not nearly as profitable due to no ectos, but not useless either. I’ve only ever used like 5 T stones, so this was a good way for me to spend all the ones I had piled up. I got them from map completion and personal story, though I think they nerfed the drop rate a couple months ago.
Yes, their whole handling of commendations and Lynns was a disaster. I think it all would of been avoided if they had disabled the recipe before disabling Lynns.
