What to do with 30 Gold - Noobie Question
I ended up buying crafting stoofs
Just spend your gold on something that will make you happy…there’s really no right or wrong way to spend gold in this game…
Why do you after pay money to craft upto 400? I levelled all 8 crafts to 400 for ‘free’ by just playing the game and collecting mats by playing, if you have 2 characters already haven’t you already got a pile of mats stored up in your collectables?
Craftings good for making your own equipment and it is possible to make money with but you need a good knowledge of the trading post as well and the TP knowledge is probably more important…

Just save it until you have an idea what you want to do with it.
30g? It’s not really enough to properly outfit one lvl80, I’d say save.
Crafting? I’ve spent maybe 10g max in all the professions. I just gather as I play. Umm… I’d say go with either weapons or armor, not so much jeweler nor cooking. Weapons/armor you can pretty easily see more than 30g flowing thru your bank… provided you are interested in watching the market and gathering your own mats.
If it were me I’d save a bit for things like trait manuals and spend the rest on minis. But unless you’re collecting minis that’s a terrible idea.
Like Milennin said it’s probably best to save it and then spend it when you do find something you want.
“Life’s a journey, not a destination.”
When I got my first 30g, I spent it on the Human female light Tier 3 armor. Just the coat: http://www.gw2armor.com/human/female/c3/light/display_looks.php
I had my eye on that one for a long time, the coat cost 30g, and I just wanted it. I actually forced myself to wait until I had 40g, just so I wasn’t broke. :-)
As far as crafting, I don’t think it’s that fun. YMMV. I have attained level 400 in Jeweler and Chef. I like both of those crafts because any character profession/race can use everything they produce. So my jeweler can craft accessories for all my characters, and the chef can provide buffs to all of them. Of those two, the jeweler is much more useful, however, because the exotic accessories sell for 3g each and you make them for “free” using the materials obtained just from playing the game.

No. You spent your valuable time in collecting those mats, which you could have been spending elsewhere, for instance farming something more profitable.
Also, it’s not free since you lose the opportunity to sell your materials for profit.

I think he enjoyed himself while he gained those mats. For people who don’t enjoy farming, that is essentially “free”, irrespective of the opportunity cost.
What you say is accurate economically, especially when you have a goal (like a legendary) in mind, but for some casual players who don’t need to worry about “Gold per minute”, it may not apply.
On topic:
30 Gold. Do what you like… buy a new weapon skin, get some good armor. If you want to make more money, invest. Otherwise, give it to me

More or less the mats just magically appear in my bags as I play, I don’t know about that. Running from one heart to the next I often find nodes to harvest as well, so it just adds up. Then before you sell, even before you make anything, you study the TP and find out what is bringing in the best profits, just do the maths. I’ve never posted something that I could have just sold the mats to get the same amount. The TP fluctuates, and not everyone wants to take the time to analyze the markets to jump on the better investments.
- buy mats for a mystic forge weapon. cool skins that you can keep for yourself or sell for profit.
- buy gems : buy boost for yourself and your guild (bonfires)
