As the title states, I bought the ultimate edition so I got the 4000 gems and I also bought an extra 2500 gems which I used to buy the account bump for the extra bag space and the extra 250 crafting material bank slots.

I just don’t know what I should pick up that would be the most useful, any tips would be very much appreciated thank you! =)

More character slots so you have for each class, 2-3 more bank spaces and 500-750 storage would be basic priorities. On your main characters you will probably want 100-150 slots as well.

And maybe a quaggan hat.

I would save the Gems until you are more familiar with the game, if new. See how the game works and determine your needs/desires. Wait until the expansion launches, and see what’s on offer, then. Investigate (through the Wiki or other sources) all that has been offered before that might catch your eye, and wait for it to be offered again.

There’s really no rush to spend. I certainly would have purchased, and did purchase, different things when new than I would and do today. I’ve yet to purchase any character bag slots. I’ve nearly maxed out my bank slots. I purchased the Copper-fed, but don’t use it that much. Maybe when there is a solution for all the minor sigils/runes, I will start using it more. I don’t know.

(I do love my Unbreakable Tools, though.)

Welcome to Tyria (if applicable), and good luck.

For me, I’ll spend for things like:
- copper salvage o matic is a must for me. It’s not about the return value, it’s the convenience of not having to stack up several item salvager in a meta.
- Inventory slot on main character until its full
- Bank slot if I have some gems left
- Lastly, things that are on discount that I like. Such as glider skin or unbreakable tools

- Guild Wars 2 Helper Android App -
* Event Timer (including HoT Meta), Daily, WvW, Pact Supply, Account. Trading Post, etc:
* Google Playstore Link

Ended up getting the PoF preparation pack, basically had almost everything posted here in 1 pack, 2 character bag slots, unbreakable tools, extra character slot, and a free level 80. and I have enough left for the copper salvage o matic so I think it was basically a win win.

Thanks everyone!

I’ll echo Inculpatos – wait until you find your personal needs and wants!
What you’ll find useful will vary soooo much depending on playstyle.
Do you stick to one character or play a lot of alts?
Do you like purchasing cosmetics?
Do you craft a lot or barely anything?
Do you play the Trading Post and like to speculate?
All of these leads to slightly different recomendations.

Agreed; however you may miss on sales. I prioritize practical sales. Something I never think is bad, because you’ll always want them the more you play:

(also they PoF prep pack is not bad I would get that myself if I didnt want to see the sales first)

-Char slots (unless you stick to 1-3 chars)
- Bag slot/bank tab – you’ll find once 80/many always running out of room one of the biggest issues in GW2
- 80 ticket or shared inventory slot – esp latter, it’s SO good to have multiple shared slots you can share ascended stuff, kits, etc. with.
PERSONAL:
- Makeover kits (unless u give a rats boob about fashion, but I use these a lot)
- Copper-matic or unbreakable tools – these are expensive and the copper is account bound BUT tools are not. ALSO – copper kit is like a basic kit unless this has changed; I want the most chances from a mystic salvage.

Silver-fed salvage O matic. It may be expensive starting off as a new player. But you’ll find now that as a lower level character you’ll likely have a much easier time making a crap load of money off of basic crafting materials -primairly leather and iron- than level 80 players who generally only run one character (like me). Price wise it matches a master salvage kit. The way that GW2’s loot system is set up…is that armor is scaled to your level. Obviously a level 80 character running to a level 40 zone in hopes of a lower tier leather farm will only get level 70-80 gear drops (Gear will be the PRIMARY source of leather) and maybe once in a blue moon they will get a salvage. Level 80 gear will only give you Thick leather, which is not what they want.

Get some dang bag slots. I might even personally buy you one bag because this is so freaking important. At lower levels they aren’t that important yet. But once you start hitting level 60 and up your inventory slots are gonna get JAMMED. And believe me when I say this, but there is a MASSIVE price difference between an 18 slot bag and a 20 slot bag. And… I have 150 slots. Currently, 35-50 is taken up at all times by a bunch of random uselss crap that I amassed but am too scared to dump on the side of the road because that 35,000 bloodstone may suddenly become useful.

If you have the money, buy the basic (and advanced if offered) harvesting nodes for your home instance. They don’t give you a lot in a single day. But they respawn daily and they will help if you remember to come back for these things.

What is this home instance you speak of?

What is this home instance you speak of?

Every character in the game has a home instance located in their racial city. Several story missions will pull you back to this. For Charr it is called “Hero’s Canton”. I don’t know what it is called for others.

The home instance will actively change depending on what you do in your Personal Story, plus any little addons you have picked up along the way. Like resource nodes and chests that holds some daily loot for you to collect.

Until you collect those resource nodes, you generally don’t have a reason to go back for a long time.

You get a second one from the HoT expansion which… to my knowledge acts as a show room for souvenirs you bought from all over Tyria.

I -sincerely- recommend that you do the Base story first. If not for the story, then for the rewards you will get from it through it, which will be a massive jump start to your level 80 journey.

If I remember correctly, you’ll get a crap load of laurels and mystic coins. You need the coins for legendary crafting or chasing down an exotic weapon with a skin you like. And you’ll want laurels for Agony Enrichments and Ascended Amulets.

If you don’t know what ascended gear is, it’s basically bootleg legendary gear. That is to say that legendary gear has the same exact stats as ascended armor. The difference is hat legendary has several Majorly useful perks.

Ascended gear has a small stat boost from exotic gear. But currently.. raid leaders often require you to be in full ascended (Which is ironic because Raids is also one of the easier ways to GET ascended gear). Outside of Raids, there are fractals. Fractals are the newer ‘dungeons’ in the game. And they feature a unique mechanic called Agony.

Agony deals MAX PERCENT HEALTH DAMAGE and the only way to resist it is Agony Resistance. Agony resistance can only be slotted in ascended gear. And a little bit goes a long way. Some bosses, this matters not as tthey will only apply agony on a hit. Meanhile here are bosses who will place agony on you regardless.

The next easiest way to get it, and probably the most cost efficient is to craft Grandmaster Tokens and trade them. This is partly due to the cost of the grandmaster tokens being INCREDIBLY cheap, somewhat easily farmed so you don’t have to spend your gold unless you want to bypass time gates. Does not really suffer RNGesus. And the 400-500 fractal relics you need to farm up will basically reinverse you the cost almost immediately when you open your encryption with the keys you earned and sell the rest.

Copper Salvage-o-matic and put that sucker into your shared inventory slot that you got with lvl 80 booster (once you use that booster up). You’ll thank me later.

Then permanent harvesting tools (mining, logging and harvesting) so you can collect your wood, minerals and ingredients as you go. Trust me, over time it’s gonna really grow on you.

Using normal ingame ones is extremely unconvinient. Run outta them in middle of event or hostile map and either you’ll end up giving up on collecting your nodes (and even worse forgetting to resupply for next time) or having to go back to merchant and losing event or wasting a lot of time.

Next would be character slots or pass to a special crafting zone (for convinience). You will do a lot of crafting soon, trust me. By pass i mean permanent 1k pass, no them 2 weeks and out you go ones.

Adding onto Zeft, you can buy the expansion, I think it’s the delux and higher editions will give you a free permanent pass to a crafting zone. But it will not be accessible till the 22nd of September.
