What utility Infusion?
I use MF%, though having Karma isn’t bad if you need to farm it.
Gold Find isn’t particularly useful (it impacts only direct drops from mobs, so we’re talking coppers per kill) and experience gain is currently the least useful, and possibly obsolete depending on results of the new skill/hero point system.
Not gold. Magic find is ok, but it only works on drops from kills and the Silverwastes, which means it has limited use. Karma, depends if you need karma. Experience won’t work with level 80s when the expansion comes.
ANet may give it to you.
- MF is always useful for people that kill a lot of foes (outside of personal or living story instances).
- Karma is trivial for some people to obtain, but if you have less than 1,000,000, you might find yourself wanting more at some point. (This is especially helpful if you do fractals below your personal level.)
- Gold Find appears to be too little to matter
- Experience is probably useless: tons of boosters, all food/utilities grant +exp, and there are tons of scrolls etc.
Accordingly, I have karma for most of my toons and one amulet with +MF for farming.
- Gold Find appears to be too little to matter
The problem with Gold Find isn’t so much that it’s too small, but that the amount of gold that it increases is absolutely pathetic. It only interacts with dropped gold from enemies, and they only drop 1s on the extreme higher end of things (and normally only drop something like 50-80c at level 80). This leads to you only gaining a couple of copper from kills, and not even every time due to money dropping not being a consistent thing, and basically only having a strictly worse Magic Find boost (which also probably increases the gold gain, as it increases the % of drop from loot tables, of which Gold is a part of). However, even if it was increased to something pretty extreme, like a 100% boost to Gold Find, it would still not be worth it due to you only getting a bonus 1s, at best, from kills that drop gold.
Basically, inflation has rendered Gold Find into being utterly worthless (more so, inflation from dungeons being such an extravagant way to get raw gold), and the numbers needed to keep up with the rest of the game would have to be in the hundreds, if not thousands, of %‘s if they wanted it to stay relevant now (which would have an obviously negative impact on the economy). Unless they do something like make Gold Find interact with events, there will largely be no point in caring about Gold Find over the course of the game. It’s just too hard to get a high enough amount to actually matter, and ANet can’t really make it easy to get to the relevant numbers due to the negative impact such an event would have on the market.
I have karma on mine. Gold and experience aren’t worth it. Magic find is too limited and increasing your chance of a good drop from a tiny number to something a tiny bit less tiny, well I didn’t think it worthwhile. Karma can be used for a Legendary, to fill out your wardrobe by buying every karma skin in the game (and mystic forging them to get something you can salvage) and by buying certain karma items such as gloves of a particular level that can be mystic forged then salvaged to get mats to sell, as well as other minor uses such as karma harvesting tools or by buying lost Orrian Jewelry boxes to gamble for something good.

What I meant was: the percentage is small, the base amounts are small, so the net effect is too little to matter. I thought writing “too little to matter” would be sufficient to get the point across — my apologies for any confusion that might have caused.
….
Basically, inflation has rendered Gold Find into being utterly worthless
Eh, no, not in my opinion. Gold Find (in the form of food & guild boosts) has always existed and it’s always been too little to matter. The only time it was worth using was when it applied to all gold earned, including dungeon bonuses.
In order for Gold Find to matter today, when it only counts for foe-loot, would be to increase the base amounts by leaps and bounds. If they did that, they’d would then need to reduce the amount and variety of other loot that foes drop.
I’m sure some people would prefer to see more coin and less stuff, but my impression is ANet prefers a greater variety of loot, which is more fun for more people.
In any case, the original post was about which utility infusions were the most worthwhile and I think we both agree that Gold Find barely belongs on that list, even at the bottom.
Experience will be worth more after the expansion so it might be worth it then?

The experience one will be worthless after the expansion for 2 reasons.
One, it can’t be used by a char below level 80, so it can’t be used to help level.
Two, they already said that experience won’t advance the level 80 Mastery Bar. It will be advanced by something like experience that is yet unnamed.

The masteries seen in the demo are just the tip of what masteries will be available at launch, and the team will have more surprises for players. We wanted to know if all those consumables, like Tomes of Knowledge and Writs of Experience, would help players unlock all of these masteries faster. The short answer is that they won’t. The experience bar is going away and is being replaced by the mastery training bar. This training bar is in no way tied to experience, but fills up by going out and doing stuff in the world. So any item that gives you experience won’t help you train masteries.
