Q:
So I am insane and I want to run around the map with my gathering tools netting myself T3 and T4 materials for crafting. How do I know which zones have these? Is it a certain level range, like the 40-50 maps? Or is it something else?
Just look at the wiki page for the mats you want. Drops are all over the place, at almost any level.
It depends a bit on which mats interest you.
However, personally I find visiting specific zones to be the most tedious and least efficient farming. What I do instead is:
In general, the level that the material is used to make is the same zone you’d find the material. For instance, copper is only found in the starting area zones, which is used in the first 20 levels of metal materials. The T3 materials is for 30-45, while T4 is 45-60, I believe. Maybe it’s a bit different, but that’s probably a good guideline.
What I also find is that dungeons in the mentioned level ranges (like CM, TA or FC) also tend to drop a fair amount of gear salvageable for these materials.
A friend of mine also liked to do a tour in Sparkfly fenn and time it in such a way, that it usually ends on the beach right when Tequatl spwans. This can also net you a reasonable amount of Platinum and Hard wood and there’s always the candy (teq) waiting at the end.

- Cloth: cotton + linen drops most often from salvaging materials of L37-59
- Leather: coarse + rugged drops more from L31-59
- Metal: Iron + plat from L21-45
- Wood: Seasoned + Hard from L37-L59
However, personally I find visiting specific zones to be the most tedious and least efficient farming. What I do instead is:
- I open champion bags on an L53 toon (which is in the tier 4 range, as you can see above). I either use the mats or sell them to fund other interests.
- For fun, I do anything else other than farming: if you play, you earn loots; sell the loots for coin; use the coin to buy stuff you need.
I wish that were an option for me, but since I can only play for maybe 10 minutes at a time, it’s really my only option.
Look up the locations of the permanent rich nodes and station your characters there, maybe swapping maps to the easiest to hit locations. Quite a few are conveniently located close to waypoints and you can gather any trees that pop up on the way to those nodes.
If you had longer to play you could hit all or most of the rich iron/plat once per day and pick up quite a few trees just “on the way” to the next node in 30 ish minutes per character.
I always get my mats from silverwaste farming. Silverwaste event farming will get you bag of masterwork gear which, when opened, will gives you 3 green or yellow gears. Open them with level 48-53 toon, then salvage those gears that is listed lower than 10 silvers on TP.

I would, but I can’t really play for more than 10-15 minutes at a time. :/
