Otherwise known as Our Time is Now ? You remember—firewalking, lady in a long dress morphs into a Norn warrior, Zhaitan has a cameo at the end?
I can’t even find it on the official website anymore. But has anyone noticed it on TV (I’m not a TV viewer, myself) or elsewhere? I know the community’s reaction was nonplussed, but Anet sunk some money, time, and work into producing that trailer and it seems strange that they’d drop it so quickly.
The reason I brought it up was when I heard of the Maine congresswoman who was panned by her opponents for having online gaming as a hobby, I thought of the trailer. I always rather suspected the trailer’s message was that it’s okay to let the world know you’re a gamer, but that’s just my take on it.
Even I have to admit that that trailer was pretty bad. Far too cringe worthy to show any of my friends. If they are going back to the drawing board I would not mind at all. :p
Fan’s created these and they are miles better than the official trailer.

Technically that congresswoman was being attacked for the comments she made while playing the game, not the fact that she plays a game. Or at least that was my understanding of the situation. (She said some pretty nasty and immature things while playing, supposedly)
And I agree that the “Our Time Is Now” trailer was…well, I wouldn’t want to show it to friends or family as a way to introduce them to the cool game I’m playing. I have used some of the preview trailers, though. Which are pretty excellent, considering they’re from several years ago.
Really. Wow (pun intended)…I would have thought a public figure would show a little more restraint, knowing behavior like that is going to be scrutinized. Interesting.
As to the trailer…good points. Personally I’d settle on the Gamescom 2011 trailer as a means of showing the game off to the uninitiated. I’m just curious to what happened to this trailer which was heavily hyped then shot down by the fanbase.
Well it was partly what she had said on a blog (not in game), but her opponent basically said that since she was a gamer she was lazy and immature.
“Certainly the fact that she spends so much time on a video game says something about her work ethic and, again, her immaturity.”
Gotta love ignorance. I work full time AND I volunteer at several organizations but since I play video games instead of doing drugs or running up a bar tab, I MUST be lazy and immature!
