I’m thinking about deleting a couple of my characters. My reasons very from, it’s not 80 and I’m not leveling an alt, to I don’t play this one very much and the crafting is redundant.

Do you ever delete an alt? If so why?

No I don’t. Usually the bags are full with some stuff and they can always be parked at a JP or a harvesting node or something. For example one of my low level alt’s is currently just sitting in front of the home instance, he is my current quartz-man. That said I do intent to level him eventually.

That’s a good idea. Maybe I’ll park the others at the end of a jumping puzzle.

I only delete my alts when I want to try a new class (and the alt is under lvl 20ish). I’ve been too cheap to buy a character expansion slot thus far, but ideally I’d open some more instead of deleting them. Another reason is to unlock all the class mechanic hints for the hints achievement.

Pack a few salvaging tools, depending how many bags the characters has could fill up fairly quick.

I never delete alts that I have significant play time invested in. I do re-roll new characters that do not look like they did in the character creator. Some things that look good in creation just seem to be off in the game world. So I do not count deleting a character that is less than level 5 so I can try making them again.

I did delete one level 40 character just because i could no longer stand the character. I wanted to have one character of each race to do their personal story. I got my Charr necromancer to level 40 and finally admitted that I just could not stand watching the Charr animations any more and deleted the character so I could re-roll her as a Norn.

So new characters I re-roll often till I get what I really want in the game world. But that Charr was the first character I had time invested in that I deleted. And that is in 10 years of MMO gaming.

It is sad too. I really wanted to like the Charr because the story was interesting and I like their outlook on life. But something about their animations and models (that i really cannot explain) just made me not enjoy playing them.

I only delete an alt if it isn’t getting played at all and I don’t have any more character slots and want to roll a new alt. Or if I just want to redesign/race change that profession, which only ever happens <20.

I’ve had alts standing around on my login screen for months without being touched. My ranger and necro, for instance, were later picked back up and leveled to 80 months after I initially abandoned them. Glad I didn’t have to restart completely.

My guardian is languishing in isolation at 45, but he’s just an extra set of bags for storage. Nothing wrong with extra storage.

Nope, unless I hate that gender or race.

If you have access to guild puzzles, you might try parking alts at the chests there.

Unless you need the char slot, why should you delete it?

They are useful for some things even if they are not lv80 like parking in jp as stated above. (Note: no shard if not lv 80) You can also park them near ori/ancient wood nodes. Or for doing certain dailies. Low levels is also good for certain living stories like the gathering the sanctum crystal achievement where a fall will only cost you coppers.

I have deleted several alts- simply because I didn’t like them and I needed the slots and couldn’t afford to buy new ones.

I think I have gone through 3 thieves, 2 guardians, 2 eles, and a warrior like that.

My biggest mistake was deleting my second Mesmer when she was lvl63.

And the level 50ish Ele, especially once I realized she was my maxed artificer

I did remake those two but with modifications and I am happily leveling them now.

I have another yearning for an empty character slot- but I will just bite the bullet and buy one this time since I cannot bear to delete any of my current characters- I love them too much.

It’s not often that I delete characters which I’ve leveled beyond 30… but recently I “retired” a male, Norn ele. My reasons were fairly shallow, I regret to say.

Viewed from front and side, he looked fine, but, watching the rear-view animation of him “running” … or rather, lumbering along… became too irritating over time.

His huge feet, always looked as if he was wearing enormous carpet-slippers, and seemed to add to his plodding movement. His hips rolled a bit too much, and looked as if they were trying to burst out of some of the lower level armours. His voice was also just so “wrong” lol. In cut scenes, I kept expecting him to sound like a younger version of Warmaster Forgal Kernsson… but he didn’t even come close.

If I roll another male Norn, I think maybe it will be one who uses heavy armour.

I never do . Even if there was an alt i made and ended up never playing it would still make a good mule and be used to farm birthday presents .

I delete them when they’re hopefully not higher than lvl 20 (I’m such a lazy leveler) if their appearance bores me, I want to try a new class, or their names are bad, or doesn’t get played at all.

I deleted a lot of alts, so, so far I’ve only got a lvl 80, 40 and a 22.

I’ve deleted 3 mains and 6 alts because the character concept or class didn’t sit well with me. I’ve lost crafting progress, mats, money, bags, laurels (indirectly) and time, but it doesn’t really phase me.

Would I delete my current main or the alts that I do like playing? Highly unlikely.

I’m very picky about my characters so I’ve deleted quite a few. :P

I’ve tried making Norns but never liked the looks so no Norn ever made it past level 20. Also deleted a bunch of Sylvari’s below level 10-20 because I ended up not liking the color sheme and whatnot. I’ve also deleted a character because the class bored the hell out of me and I deleted a level 40 Charr Engineer because the race/class combo bugged the hell out of me. I disliked the way the armor looked on her, how goofy she ran with a rifle/certain kits, how the kits looked HUGE on her and how she was basically running on 2 legs all the time because of the Speedy Kits trait. So I have an Asura Engineer now. xD So much better.

I deleted alts when my slots are full and I wanna make a new toon. Currently they are all full, but I’m not making anymore (already at 8 )

Either use it to hold account bound items (buy 15 slot bags) or park them at a JP and just log on once a day to get it.

I delete alts all the time, but they’re ones I specifically intended to be temporary characters. I make them to try out different professions and personal story options.

My 5 main characters I’m probably never going to delete.

Ditto above, I make a character and do the first two story arcs, then replace it with another. Someday when I’m done with all the race specific arcs, I’ll go kill Zhaitan.

I have two slots occupied by level 80s, 1 slot for personal story arcs, and 1 slot to reroll any class for sPvP. Last one is a mule..for now.

Usually when it’s died half a dozen times before reaching lvl 20 and I decide I don’t know how to play it and probably never will…looking at elementalists here!

I found ele a tough class to play, especially as I prefer to use a staff. But I do enjoy trying to get buffs on group members by swapping attunements at the right moment. She is also totally a glass cannon and always the first to die. I am now trying to improve my dodge skills to improve that.

She is the only character I haven’t deleted. I keep deleting the others because the class doesn’t seem quite right. Currently levelling a Guardian, but I really dislike the female heavy armour and wish there was something a little more attractive to put her in.

I am tempted to delete another character now I’m thinking about it, to make a Warrior!

I just did, because I felt the class wasn’t fun, I kept dying, the mechanics doesn’t ring well with my play style.

Another reason I did in the past was I thought I could fall in love with the look of my asura guard, but soon I realize I just want to be human. So I restarted my main, same class, different race.
