I’ve had my eye on a name since launch but, whenever I try it, I get the same message saying its reserved. I’m aware ArenaNet told everyone the reservations would expire after opening weekend but they haven’t. My guess is this is something that just fell through the cracks with all the craziness of of the first few weeks. If anyone has an answer or any thoughts, please leave comments.

Agreed.

New player here btw, didn’t play GW1, wasn’t even aware the reservations should have expired after the opening weekend – I merely thought there was a hard deadline.

I bought the game like 2 weeks ago, every now and then I pop into character creation and the name’s STILL locked. Why should someone get to reserve a name if they’re not going to use it?

I’d actually be perfectly fine with them saying the name reservations will never expire. At least then I would know to move on. I just don’t like being left in the dark is all…

Yes, this is getting REALLY irritating. They need to release the names like they said they would. Its been three months. I think that it’s safe to assume the GW1 players have no interest in keeping the name.

a Liason has mentioned they don;t have a timetable, but they do, its 24 hours after launch.

They are behind on their timetable. they need to release the names immediately.

Removing the name block on character creation does not seem to be a labor intensive activity. Telling us to wait with no date, reason or explanation, against promises made previously is completely idiotic. I have no idea why they would simply refuse to act on it, comment on it, or even give a timetable.

It makes no sense to me at all and lowers my opinion of them as a game company because it makes no sense. If Gaile Gray would like people to stop talking about it every day, then I would recommend that she give us more information. Right now all we get is passing the buck and a shrug. Come ON,

@Furril,
I’m not going into everything you say, but one of the core things of your speech is that they promised to release the names 24 hours after release. This is NOT true. They stated that the first 24 hours you would be able to claim your reserved name. They also stated that every supportticket bout name claiming that first day (and the pre-release weekend off course) needed to be resolved before the names would be given free. So untill that moment you can still claim your reserved name, but you can’t make new support tickets.

Furthermore you might consider looking at the calender. The game was released on 8/28 and today is 10/19, so not 3 months but less then 2 months. I agree that it is taking them a long time, but making up facts isn’t really going to support your point.

Here’s where they mention names being up for grabs after the Headstart weekend.

@Furril I’d like to see where Gaile Gray made those comments about being tired of people talking about it. Post the link if you can.

I’d also like to see this thread get some attention from the ArenaNet crew, so stay positive and keep the views and comments coming!
