Where do i farm?
Right now that would probably be in the crown pavilion.
That or a champion loop e.g. in Frostgorge Sound. If you can find people to run with.

Your job. Seriously, you can make more money in real life to buy gems to buy gold in faster than you can farm gold in game. Once I figured out how much time this saves me I never farmed gold again (probably Anets plan all along but still…)
If you really want to make gold in game I’d suggest learning how to play the TP. I did it for a few days and always managed to turn a profit.
I havent had a chance to check out pavilion or the new champion system yet but this is one of my main ways of farming gold.
“Where do I farm?”
I would suggest somewhere that has rich soil, decent water and reasonable amounts of sun. Once you get more advanced you can try hydroponics where you only need a good source of water and plant nutrients.

It’s a game – it’s supposed to be fun.
Why do so many people have the urge to turn it into a job?

You can’t have fun if you are trying to do a dungeon/FoTM and people kick you from the party because you are using crap gear and dies every 5 seconds.
Seriously, you NEED money in this game, you NEED good gear, good weapons and some food maybe.
@OP
There is no place to farm, you need to join a zerg on Cursed Shore or maybe Frostgorge Sound (to farm champions) or run dungeons, AC all paths + CoF P1 and P2 will give you more than 6.5g per day, i think it is good enough if you are not a hardcore player (i’m not one either). AC and those 2 paths on CoF are ridiculous EASY to do.

Because farming could be their idea of fun.

Of course everyone has their own idea of “fun”, but I can’t believe that even half the people doing it actually find it fun. People do it for money.

The thing that attracted me to this game after grinding through WoW for way too long was the fact that I can play this game without the farming grind.
All the gear that requires ‘grinding’ is just cosmetic. Beads and mirrors for the natives.
Providing you’re reasonably careful with the stuff, what you pick up along the way is more than enough to get workmanlike kit for your level, including endgame.
If you want the geegaws like e.g. Legendaries? Well, Barabbas said it, easier to just buy gems and convert to gold. A Legendary would cost you a few days wages.
