Just recently came back to the game, reason being I hear Anet is adding additional content every 6 weeks or so, so I figure I’d give it a shot.

However, upon coming back and starting a new character I am finding a lot of the zones are barren of any players to do the event chains that used to net big experience gain.

My question…where does one level now with other people? (Besides doing instances…)

Quesndale has champion trains that are good for leveling. Personally I leveled all of my characters in WvW.

It depends on your server. It may also be because the game is over a year old now, and a lot of people have more than a few level 80 characters which means they really don’t need to be exploring anymore.
Go to Lion’s Arch, there are always plenty of bums hanging out there.

Well those event chains don’t really pay out anything to players at this point. At launch they were something to do but at that time precursors also cost 10G. Get yourself to 80, learn your class, gear yourself well (Zerk for PvE) , and get into dungeons and fractals.

Anet is adding new content every 2-4 weeks. When those events land, most people end up there. Tomorrow will be a pretty huge patch, so expect to see a lot of people enjoying Wintersday events, as well as testing out the latest balance changes.

Lion’s Arch is always packed, so it’s a good place to get a group together for whatever. I agree that most zones are kinda barren, especially the mid-level ones. But I’ve found that to be true with literally every MMO I’ve played.

The LFG tool (hit Y, choose tab) is relatively new and is a good way to get a group together for dungeons and fractals.

The mid-level zones will probably see a little more traffic with all the mid-level crafting materials that are required for ascended crafting.

Still, the new content that is added every fortnight tends to shift the players towards certain areas of the game, so the emphasis shifts all the time.
