Yes, I am too late to actually use it in WvW, I don’t even know if it’s the same rifle that’s in the south west corner of the Mount Maelstrom map as a pickup item instead of a vendor consumable item, although I assume it is since it got banned in WvW on Monday. Well anyway, I literally searched every vendor in the game, so I know that it’s definitely one that is available after a dynamic event, I just don’t know which area or which event. There is literally no information anywhere as well.

For those of you that don’t know, the experimental rifle (the pickup one) is a rifle that chills mobs for 45 seconds, which stacks 3 times (first attack). It then freezes mobs that have 3 stacks for 15 seconds using a freeze-thrower attack (second attack). The third and final attack does 6667 damage to frozen mobs in a huge AoE gust (it also deals this damage to everyone in that huge AoE as long as one person is frozen. It can also be shot again a second later for the same damage even though noone would be frozen after the first blast.) I would have reported it (probably after I made a video showing the above in WvW wiping out entire zerg groups, releasing it after it got fixed) had I actually found thekittenvendor and confirmed that it was the same rifle.

It’s uh, gosh I dont remember exactly where. There’s a heart quest based around using it on risen in a swamp.

Hmmmm, I guess no one sells it. You can only get it off the weapon rack.

I know for a fact that a vendor sells it because I have seen it. I just can’t remember where it is and after what event. Also they wouldn’t have banned it in WvW if you couldn’t buy it since the rifle disappears when you change zones.

It’s gotta be in the Bloodtide Coast/Sparkfly Fen/Mount Maelstrom area…

Did you try the Asura Lab in the middle/western edge of Timberline Falls?

Yep, the four events there didn’t have a merchant at the end.

I know there’s an experimental rifle you can buy from a charr after completing the undead chicken swarm event in the S of Malchor’s Leap that lets you leap forward, occasionally shoot and maybe rifle butt.

Can you be more specific? I checked after killing the 4 veteran chickens but didn’t see a merchant.

Don’t some merchants move? I remember seeing a merchant who sold charzookas. He was standing by the shattererer area. But he wasn’t always there and I have yet to see him again.

I believe one spawns at the end of an event chain in the Straits of Devastation. It is at Monastery of Tughra PoI in Elysium Beach. The merchant/event star’s name is Agent Raia. I BELIEVE she sells them but can not be 100% sure. None the less, its a place to check.

To eleborate: the event in question involves killing chicken coops before the swarm of chickens reaches critical mass, if you complete it in time the charr in question runs up and a veteran mob spawns near them. Once that is dead they will sell the rifles, but if the chicken swarm completes then you need to kill it and then 4 veteran chickens but I don’t think that will spawn the npc in question.

Just wanted to post that yes, it was after killing the chicken coops and then the asura responsible, and it wasn’t the one from mount maelstrom. Thanks!

I was just here this evening but this Asura is selling an experimental teleportation rifle/gun for 32 copper. From the OP’s description of what his experimental rifle does I’m not sure its the same one.
