Where is the main hub now?
Lion’s Arch is still the main hub,
Though thanks to megaservers all the racial cities are filled with people, so quite a few people just choose which one they prefer

The bank areas around the racial cities have a fair number of people now. Many are using their char’s racial cities. Try checking out the areas around the bank or trading post in each city.

I was in LA on my server and it is dead so that prompt me to ask this haha. I will try the racial cities.
I find it more likely that either there just weren’t many people in the part of LA you visited, or that you just ended up on a low population instance. The megaserver aspect means that your server doesn’t matter for anything but WvW, so you can find people from any server in your region, even in cities like LA.

I am where the old trade area use to be, and where the lion statue is. Theres not a lot at all.
Go over to the bank/trading post/dungeon merchants/crafting area to the east or the mystic forge/trading post/crafting area to the north.

I had the exact same experience when I came back to GW2.
The Mystic Forge where everyone used to hangout has moved. So, with regards to Lion’s Arch, people now hang out at Sanctum Harbor Waypoint or Fort Marriner Waypoint (that’s where you end up if you go in and out of PVP).
Other busy places are Minister’s Waypoint in Divinity’s Reach and Accountancy Waypoint in Rata Sum.
People used to hang out in that spot because it was between the bank, trading post and mystic forge and close to the crafting stations. When Lion’s Arch was destroyed and rebuilt a lot of things moved so the people moved with them.
Now there’s 3 ‘hub’ areas in LA: one near the docks and the castle ruins where the mystic forge is, one down in Fort Marriner (not used as much because the waypoint is broken) and one over on the west side where the moa races used to be.
They also added bank and TP access to the Heart of the Mists so a lot of people will go there (since it can be accessed from anywhere in the world for free) and many people like using the racial cities. Rata Sum in particular is always busy when I’m there because it’s got everything close together on the middle level.
“Life’s a journey, not a destination.”
Maybe I’m weird, but when I need to do stuff like crafting, banking etc, I usually go to the small crafting-town-thingy in Metrica Province. I forgot the name, but it’s the one with a waypoint right across the river, in a low-level area. I can access the bank from the crafting stations, and I rarely buy anything from the TP. Even that can be done outside main cities, though you can’t pick anything up directly- But even that can be taken care off with a courier, I think. So why go to a crowded city, when a small, peaceful settlement will do the trick?
Mabon Market is a nice little town for that, but it periodically gets an escaped blobs event that shuts down the crafting. I like Claypool in Queensdale for the same idea of everything but a TP. Though you wouldn’t believe how freaking long it took me to realize the armor and weapon stations are one floor up in a little tower >.> And the crafting vendors aren’t all completely easily accessible at the same time as the craft bench unless you position just right.
Accountancy Waypoint in Rata Sum is generally bustling, has bank, gbank, TP, and crafting stations all within a tiny jog of each other (and using a WP inside the city is almost instantaneous, so you can wp over to the TP from crafting then jog back very quickly at need). Plus it’s nice and close to Dry Top/Silverwastes, thus cutting down a tad on WP fees for that commute.
The town I was takling about is Desider Atum in Metrica Province. The crafting stations are close, and there’s a repair guy close-ish to the entrance. Plus, there’s a waypoint right across the river. On top of that, it’s in the center of MP, so it’s a nice hub when exploring.
Oh right, I don’t know why I was thinking Caledon! Yes, that’s a good spot, plenty safe from events.
