confusion sounds more like a mesmer thing, so they’d probably have the most confusion spells

retaliation on the other hand sounds more like a guardian thing

those are just guesses though

Gwaiyn – 80 Thief
Ryfaul – 80 Warrior
Fluene – 80 Mesmer

Mesmer has a ton of confuse. Guardian has a lot (though less than the Mesmer with confuse) of retaliation. Can’t confirm the “most” though. Race won’t matter much.

They don’t really go together (confuse and retaliation) if that’s what you mean, retaliation scales with power and confuse scales with condition damage.

You going for a “stop hitting yourself” build?

“We have no first-person view because stupid people would lock into it”
“You can’t have more than 10 HS decks because that would confuse people”
“30 fps is more cinematic”

Go mesmer. Go at least 10 into illusions to pick up confusing cry (causes cry of frustration to inflict both confusion (2 stacks per shatter) and retaliation on yourself for a good amount of time, like 3 or 5 secs per shatter. Going 30 into illusions gives you more good traits such as persona to make this even more effective.

One issue is that retal damage is power based while cofusion damage is condition damage based so I’d probably go more with a power-shatter build set up, probably with soliders gear and maybe a few rabid or dire pieces. Using a torch will give you a phantasm that causes retal/confuse, and using perplexity runes will give you tons more confusion. It would probably be best to specilize in one or the other. Confusion w/perplexity is still strong after the nerf, and I’ve heard of a few viable retaliation builds on the mesmer forums but I don’t know them off the top of my head.

I was using distracting strikes on my warrior with spiked armor, and that was nice, but i was going for a class that has an easier access to retal/confusion. I might make a mesmer in a few weeks and try that out

both the Engi and Mesmer have 3 profession skills that cause confuse, engi has shorter average cooldowns.

Through traits the Mesmer can get retaliation after a shatter and on block, aside from random boons or to phantasms. The engi only gets it through Elixir B.

Actually, Crysto is right. Asura racial is good for a stop-hitting-yourself build. If you’re going to roll this profession, asura would be beneficial.
