Ps. I’m not being sexist or anything I’m a girl I just don’t want to be guy for races like norn lol.

Have you been using the character creation editor in the game yet? (http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Character_creation)
You should do that if not!!

For a pretty female you could start with a human and after that a norn (they made the female one quite aesthetic).
After that a sylvari (you can decide their glow!) or asura or a charr.

Have a look at the gw2armor.com site as emon suggested. That’s how you will find out how exotic or cultural armor is looking like.

Everything depends on your own taste, BUT it is quite difficult to create a medium female armor, especially low level, that isn’t a trenchcoat. So if you are interested in a thief, ranger or engineer keep in mind that the most stylish looking armor will be there later in the game.
For light armor (mesmer, necro, ele) it is way easier to wear some nice clothes whilst leveling.
Heavy armor (guardian, warrior) is also okay, but for good variety I like the light armor the most.

Another thing is the “theme” the different professions have:
- Mesmer is all in purple and with butterflies etc.
- Guardian has a more light blue fire theme
- etc

You might have noticed that in the videos. ^^

You can try out all professions by creating one and do the tutorial. After that you can travel to the pvp lobby (and do the pvp tutorial once) and you will be able to try all their skills, because you will be upleveled to lvl 80.
That way you can choose which professions looks and feels the most fitting to you.

Many professions can hit hard, and for pve you don’t have to choose a special profession to be successful. As I do not pvp or wvw it can be evry different there..

I am a girl, too, and my main is female human mesmer. Not because of the loveliness and the great aesthetics of this profession, but it’s a nice bonus.

Cool ty so much I cant download the game until my new computer arrives Thursday….how long does it take to download?

I am also a new player, and I was impressed by the fast download, like 2.5 MB/second on cable broadband. So it was only 2 or 3 hours to download.

Human warrior or guardian.

Well female charr asura and sylvari are all ugly, so you should pick human or norn.

As for class your top choice would probably be warrior if you want to wear heavy armor. Guardian is also fine. If you want to wear light armor then I suggest Mesmer or elementalist.

Medium armor? Thief or engineer I guess.

Avoid necros and rangers. They bad!

Easy way :
Create a class with random race(one after other)→ go to hearts of the mists (you can be teleported there from any point in the game) → go to locker and check armor.
You can check you class there aswell, because all skills are open and there is all (pve and pvp armor stats are diffrent)

That is a really good suggestion, emon, but there is one armor (or more?) per profession that you will not be able to get in pve.

Depends on you… do you want to do pve? Thief (and mesmer) can be a real challenge in leveling your character up to lvl 80. It will become easier sometimes (if you learn new traits), but can also be harder (if you go to Orr) the more you level..^^

If you want to get a feeling for the game and don’t want to be possibly frustrated, then you should choose an easier option like warrior, ranger, necro. In my opinion these were very good to level..
But it depends on you, for example if you are experienced with such games, it could be that it doesn’t make any difference starting with the thief profession. ^^

I don’t want to pvp at least until 50….. I think ill go with guardian their semi healers and I can always get hot culteral armor right?

If you define those as hot, yes:
http://www.gw2armor.com/human/female/c1/heavy/display_looks.php
http://www.gw2armor.com/human/female/c2/heavy/display_looks.php
http://www.gw2armor.com/human/female/c3/heavy/display_looks.php

As a guardian you sometimes have to watch your life bar, because they have lower vitality as warriors.
But I think it is a good choice to start the game with.
Have fun!

I would go with a human or norn (the best looking races), character wise a Mesmer is best of the light armoured characters and light armour is the best looking in the game. Guardians are good too but they wear heavy armour, you may not look as good but you will be a lot tougher.

Both classes are very popular ingame and wanted in partys.

Mesmer can be tricky during leveling…

On the other hand, just try them all out and stick with that one that is the best for you. :-)

In my opinion: Yes.

Just look for a guild that suits you. There are some that are huge, some for casuals, some for hardcore players. Some do only pvp, etc..
But during the first levels there should be always some guilds that advertise in map chat. :-)
Or you have a look here: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/players/OPERATION-UNION-Bringing-Players-Together/first

Is Mesmer hard to use?

I don’t think they are hard to use…

A lot of people say they are squishy upto about level 40 but so far my Mesmer’s only died 21 times, well my Elementalist has died 80 times and my Necromancer 60 times, so I find Mesmers the least squishy of all the light armour classes…

The illusions are fantastic in PvP as well, they confuse people a lot, they target your illusion instead of you…

Ps. I’m not being sexist or anything I’m a girl I just don’t want to be guy for races like norn lol.

It’s a matter of ongoing argument which species has the prettiest female characters, but you’ll probably pick human or norn, depending on how much clothes you want to wear (Norn wear a little less) and whether or not it’s a turn-off for you to be taller than most of the guys around you.

Rather than saying that there’s an easiest profession, let me say this: for each of the 8 professions, there’s at least one weapon combo that, in my experience and my opinion, was the easy one for leveling. Here were my picks for the weapons that I found easiest to use for leveling:

  • Warrior: axe & mace; rifle
  • Guardian: sword & torch; staff (see footnote)
  • Engineer: pistol & shield; bomb kit
  • Ranger: axe & torch; sword & torch; bear
  • Thief: sword & pistol; shortbow
  • Elementalist: scepter & focus
  • Mesmer: greatsword; sword & focus
  • Necromancer: dual daggers; scepter & dagger

Each of those weapon combinations were chosen, by me, to have the least tricky mechanics, the most utility for solo and small group PvE leveling, and the most survivability. Your mileage may vary, but if you just plain like the idea of a class, don’t give up on it until you’ve tried every weapon combo, because learning new weapon combos and buying new (blue quality) weapons is cheap and quick, and each class plays almost entirely differently when you switch its weapons.

(I expect to take grief for recommending sword & torch, it’s not popular among guardians, but it does ungodly AoE damage while giving you a fast-recharging AoE blind; combine that with the fact that guardians are already pretty hard to kill and that’s everything a beginner needs. If you don’t mind waiting for enemies to die of old age, you can make an even tankier low level guardian by choosing mace & focus.)

Other people have given great answers, so I’ll focus on one small thing you said about not wanting to PvP until you are 50. Note that I am not a PvPer myself!

There are two types of PvP: Structured and World vs. World.

In structured, you are boosted to 80 with level 80 gear and all traits and skills unlocked (you might have to pick trait lines, I’m not sure, as I haven’t done sPvP yet). You fight in a small team against an equal sized team in a small arena map.

In WvW you are boosted to 80 stat wise but only have the weapon skills and utilities you’ve unlocked in PvE already, plus you have your same gear on. You fight in a tremendous landscape against hundreds of enemies with a lot of PvE things to do as well. There are keeps to capture and hold, supply caravans to escort or disrupt, etc.

While waiting to 50 makes sense in terms of wanting to make sure you really understand your profession’s mechanics, it’s not necessary for purely level reasons beyond wanting more available skills and more helpful gear.

This is my list I’d suggest but it’s just my opinion mixed with what other said.

Depending on how many friends who play with you I’d suggest this row:
1. Warrior (good damage lives long)
2. Necromancer (has support lives long)
3. Ranger (has support lives well)
4. Guardian (life go down fast but can heal)
5. Thief (life go down fast and it’s difficult to survive if not skilled)
6. Elementalist (does fine damage goes down fast)
7. Engineer (at first seems to be weak if not played correctly)
8. Mesmer (requires skill to be played very well)

(I haven’t played ranger and engineer yet)

Human & Norn women are beautiful in this game. Though I don’t like the female Norn voice acting.

Female Sylvari look great too, just not in your typical human-esque way.

Warrior & Ranger are easy to play professions that will let you PvE & level well. Rangers have an issue in dungeons with their pets dying w/o micro-management. Warriors (as I understand it) aren’t good in PvP.

Guardians are another great beginner class because they have a ton of heals & damage mitigation so you have outs if you mess up. Very little ranged options so you’ll be 90% melee here.

Engineer & Elementalist are harder to play well, but if you do I think they’re incredibly rewarding. My main is an Engi and I had to play other professions 1st to get the hang of GW2’s combat mechanics before I was able to be proficient at being an Engi. That’s just me though.

Mesmers are another profession that have a higher skill cap but are really good all around (PvP, PvE, WvW, dungeons). I’ve heard that they take a bit of effort at lower levels (sub-30 I believe) but become quite dynamic at later levels. I just rolled one and am anxious to see what they can do from my perspective.

Good luck!
