Is it more cost effective to just keep buying the really cheap basic one, or do you end up making more money than you spend on them, with the % chance to get better materials?

Yeah, cannot justify anything other than Mystic. The 250 charges is too convenient to pass up.

What would you suggest for sub level 80? Im 20 at the moment and I buy the 88c salvage kit (can’t remember the name) and ive been salvaging white gear and salvage items and vendoring everything else blue or green. Is that the best way to optimize money/crafting mats while leveling?

Just always buy the 88c ones until you are 80 and getting drops that are worth it to salvage, 70-80 stuff.
