Finally got my game to work! Anyway, what is the sort of DoT profession of the game? I remember last week briefly playing my necro before my game died and I didn’t really like it. I can’t remember if I was doing DoT’s with him? If not a DoT, which is a good strong caster? I wouldn’t mind doing some PvP in the long run if I got good at it but mostly will be exploring the game, learning everything and most of all enjoying myself.

I think the necro, hunter, and thief all have some DoT heavy options.
But it seems all classes can apply DoTs, just some are better than others. But I dont know which are best.

As a Ranger player myself, we get some good DoT (poison on short bow, burn with torch), but it’s still quite a mix of nuking/DoT/pet control, which only makes it more fun than just being a one trick pony. But it seems this game was made for being a jack-of-almost-all-trades and actually doing it well.

I would recommend the thief. This is my current main character and I’m at level 72 and coasting to 80. It’s very versatile and the damage out put makes me smile. In a team setting I jump into the middle of an enemy group to stand with the Guardian or Warrior and deal some up close damage, I shadow step out leaving behind traps that cause poison or bleeding (Dots and more dots) switch to dual pistols and range alongside the Ranger or if I plan before going into battle I can rain down mortar like strikes with clusterbomb from the short bow attacks.

With the right set up and gear your condition damage (DoTs) could be very extreme.

I have a friend who plays a Necro and he says that they put out some really wicked numbers as well.

A staff Mesmer can put out some wicked conditions (and boons!), along with their clone/illusion shattering abilities! Mesmer is a very fun class to play if you like a good challenge.
