My brother and I both play GW2, and we want to make a couple characters to go through the game together, but we can’t decide on what two professions would benefit each/other the best? Ex. most combo fields and finishers, better support skills.

What do you guys think? If you had to choose between any two of the current professions to play as a team, which would they be, and why?

If you did an ele and an engi, you’d have all the combo fields and finishers anyone would ever need.

But, honestly, any two classes can go well together.

Could try the melee with a support trope as war/guard and ele.
Won’t exactly go that way as the roles can reverse but it should be solid for most of your game play.

Been playing on a mm necro with an ele new person and it’s gone decently so far.

My favorite combo has got to be Theif and Elementalist. Between the two of them, they can provide every field you need as well as tons of finishers. They both also have very high mobility, damage and good survival options. The only downside is both professions have a high skill curve needed to play them efficiently.

As long as one of the classes have a reflect the rest doesn’t matter that much. Even the reflect isn’t that important except in certain dungeon fights.

Combo fields and finishers can be interesting but most of the time the only one that matters is blast + fire field and occassionally a water field.

Thief/ Ele, high DPS team, enough projectile defense and other active defenses to handle most any situation. You’ll have high might/fury uptime which will have the thieves damage skyrocketing as well as the Ele being right up there on his own, thief providing stealth to skip anything you want.

Thief/Guard more defense, less DPS, skip anything, then easier but longer fights in general.

Note, you could throw engi in for the thief, you lose a lot of stealth possibilities, but you have enough. Engi is a great profession but not really a niche role other then stacking vuln and high Immob time, I find it very much a more personal preference profession. If you like it you can always find a use for it, but it’s probably not the “best” choice… very fun and what I main though hehe

Ele/Guard, every fight should be nice an easy, but you lose that benefit of stealth which is really nice.

War/War is a nice easy combo too both very solid on their own and only gets better in a team.

This is all coming from the idea of PVE, esp doing say duo dungeon runs or even inviting more but knowing the two of you have everything covered and everyone else can just come along for the ride
