Whitch class has the best range-DD?
If you think the ranger has good ranged damage then go with a ranger and ignore what other people say.
If you believe the profession sections of the forum every single one was broken at launch, has been nerfed since then and is due another nerf at any moment.
“Life’s a journey, not a destination.”
ok, so Ranger is a bad idea :/ kitten i realy hoped, that this “low demage” isn’t true…
So at least i should think again about:
Necromancer and Elementalist as mages and Warrior as “normal” ad-dealer?
Any more suggestions fore this three classes? Who deals the most demage? Who can handle PvE/Dungeons/WvW & PvP best? Or better: who isen’t useless in one of them?
According to Jon Peters (one of the game designers) Rangers will be getting fixed in the next big patch (Nov.15):

If you really like the Ranger profession I’d stick with it, at least until you see what the Ranger changes will be.
Pets give 45-50% of the Ranger’s damage (confirmed fact) but spend half of their existence being in a defeated state and thus useless. Ranger is good against one or two targets in PvE and that’s it. Any more mobs and you’re overwhelmed.
This is a bit exaggerated. I roll shortbow main and axe/torch on 2nd set. Axe+torch gives you good ranged against multiple mobs (up to 5 I think), and the torch field adds burning to every attack.
Secondly, put a few points into BM (at least 5, preferably 10) and your pet will be fine. It’s not like the points are wasted, 5 points in BM gets your quickness for 2 seconds on pet swap, that’s pretty useful.
Also, use troll unguent for your heal. Your pet will not die unless you’re not paying attention.

Ele as a boon switcher with dual dagger is unrivaled in maneuverability. I run dual dagger on her and I hardly die in anywhere but lv 70 or higher areas. The problem is knowing your foes locations… If you get overwhelmed, no one can help you but yourself.

Beastmastery tier line makes pets decent. Problem is, I need to spend points on traits I don’t need just to bring my class’ defining mechanic somewhat on par with the rest of the world. Even then pets have horrible damage output due to not being able to hit moving targets.
No matter what your build is, 5 points in BM is almost mandatory for the quickness 2 of every 20 seconds. I don’t see what the big deal is.
Rangers are great for theose players who want to play things save. thge balance between survivability and damage is very good. For the more competitive player (either in PvP or in being good at a certain pve aspect) it lacks versatility.
The best results can be reached imo with the oddballs. in PvP that would be the thief and the mesmer, and in PvE the engineer and the ele. They are all harder to play and not as straight forward as the ranger. but they can be much more fine tuned to your needs.
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
“Rangers are great for those players who want to play things save. The balance between survivability and damage is very good.”
But I don’t really search a Character with balanced damage and survivability, I’m looking fore a sniper character with incredible damage ON RANGE and don’t care about his survivability…
(just as example: Diablo 3: I played a DH with amazing high demanded but was all the time onehit fore any mobs (20k live and no resists), i just survived with killing my enemy’s or useing my doge skills)
I already noticed that this game don’t has so extream specialization, but i still hope to find a character that fit’s most with this requirement.
Go with a rifle Warrior and stack power/precision if all your looking for is a glass cannon sniper, 30/30/0/0/10 and just pick the traits that affect your rifle and damage dealing.
Just please don’t join any dungeons with a build like that, you will die super fast and people will get mad at you.
Remember that a dead character deals 0 damage, a good balance between survivability and damage ends up dealing more damage than a glass cannon.
Here’s a link to a balanced rifle Warrior build:

I believe Engi has the highest potential dps with grenades, but you need godly aim and a very specific build. Doesn’t work at low/mid levels either.
Your best bet is mesmer/warrior IMO.
