Who benefits from Carrion stats?
Engineer does well with Carrion, Necro does as well, Ranger can do well if they use double bow or a mix of power and condi pets.
Its the same in PVP amulets as well, the rabid vs carrion for condition damage, and your right in that rabid seems to be the main choice. I tend to look at it as less power vs precision, but am I going to be taking pure damage or condition damage. If a lot of pure damage, more toughness, if a lot of conditions, then more health.
(of course if you need crits to proc stuff then rabid is better. Sadly a lot of traits are tied to crits, so carrion ends up being lost into the ether)
Just stick a carrion on a ele in pvp, its not going to make it any worse haha.
I have a balanced elementalist with Carrion armor, but with Cleric’s accessories. It gives s a mix of condition damage and healing power, and giving decent bonuses in both toughness and vitality. All the while, every item provides a boost to power.
With this mix of stats, I find my elementalist to be very versatile. The only sacrifice I made was the chance to score critical hits.
Also, bear in mind that ArenaNet announced changes to the systems for critical hits, likely as part of an effort to address the omnipresence of berserker-equipped players in many areas of the game.
My advice is to wait for news on this development (expected later today) and see if maybe you could benefit from the item yourself in the upcoming meta.
I would look at a wvw Mesmer
with carrion full gear you are practically immortal and conditions in wvw is nasty
in PVE you will kill like a granny :P
Ranger would be the best fit. Necro can use it as well, but the low power multiplier on most of their attacks makes them better off with Rabid or Dire most of the time.
