Since yesterday I have been seeing blue arrows on my mini map and tonight while in Lion’s Arch the blue arrows showed up again so I looked at my main map to see where the blue arrows were and it showed he was in Lion’s Arch.

I teleported to where he was. I was not able to speak to him and after about 2 minutes he vanished.

Is he new to the game or is it just something that I haven’t noticed til yesterday.

He is a player lol. Commander is a leadership role that can be purchased. I’m not very good at explaining things but if you look it up on the wiki that will do a great job.

Commander is a system intended for World vs World that wasn’t thought through properly, and so ends up being active in PVE as well. A guild can get together to purchase a commander book for 100 gold. This book allows a player to become a commander. Being a commander gets that icon on the minimap and allows them to have a super-large party. This allows dedicated players and guilds to organize and direct other players in WvW.

But, like I said, they didn’t think it through, and so you can use it anywhere and not just in WvW. Hopefully they’ll fix that.

The person above me couldnt be more mistaken, they’re coming off as almost bitter they can’t afford commander.

Commander has its uses in PvE as well. If you want to create a larger group to tackle some of the events in Orr, being a commander can help organize more people to take on these challenges.

So no, being a commander isn’t just useful in WvW
