I’m almost level 30, human warrior. When I try to run to an event, other players blow by me so fast I can barely keep up. Sometimes, when another player runs passed me, I think they cast a speed spell on me because I can run for a few seconds. Is it gear (like boots of speed in NWN) or only magic users can run fast? Or perhaps we get a speed boost at a certain level?

This should answer your questions

All players run at the same speed. It can be increased by the swiftness and quickness buffs from certain skills (see Artemis’ link) for a brief period. A small number of utility skills also give extra movement speed whilst that utility is equipped.

All professions have access to the buffs.

The Discipline specialization has a trait that will increase movement speed by 25% when wielding a melee weapon (Warrior’s Sprint).

Longer answer:

There are skills, traits, and armor runes that grant always-on 25% movement speed increases. There are also skills, traits, runes and sigils that grant or enhance swiftness, which is a 33% movement increase.

Look at the skills and traits you already have or look on the wiki for skills/traits you will have to see what your professions offers. Warriors do get a 25% trait.

As for the runes, don’t worry about those until you reach level 80 and are building a set of armor you will be keeping. While leveling up, throw whatever runes you come across in your armor, since it doesn’t stick around for long.

Do you know how boons look like in this game? You should be able to see those boons (and conditions; negative boon effects) below player name. If you see swiftness boon you know that those player have boosted speed movement from that boon for a short duration. You can also use combo to get swiftness either for yourself or for other nearby players within range of lightning field. Revenant can share their swiftness without making a field first from Facets. There is also a effect called Superspeed, but it is not that common compared to swiftness.

Mesmer/Chronomesmer have Blink which is a teleport skill and there is other professions that also have teleport skills or abilities that can be used with or without target move forward certain distance. Teleport make you disappear and re-appear a certain distance from where you where when you disappeared. It can make running to an event much faster.

If you need help to get to an event, you can ask in chat (on map – type /m) if somebody could provide you with swiftness from blasting lightning fields or maybe there is a Reventant which can use Facets of Elements (passive effect) or you could use Balanced Stance with Last Stand (trait). There are also some consumables which provide you with swiftness (see link).

op, this game is all about combining skills with the passive speed boon to move around the map

You should try sword 2 every once in awhile. Warrior are considered near top tier speed.

In the cities there is a passive speed boost for those that have the masteries unlocked.

Warrior Greatsword 5 with nothing targeted is nice aswell

There are 2 ways to move faster:

1) speed buffs like swiftness, 25% movement traits, superspeed, etc…

2) movement skills like leaps, rushes, teleports

As a Warrior you have good access to swiftness by using the
Elite Signet (Signet of Rage) you can unlock this at lvl 30
Warhorn (skill 4)
If you use those 2 skills regulary you can keep up swiftness all the time which is a permanent 33% speed boost

As a Warrior you also have good access to movement skills like:
Bulls Charge (utility skill)
Greatsword skill 5
Greatsword skill 3
Sword skill 2 (leap forward) —> this one can also be used very effectively to skip huge ways around certain terrain by leaping over gaps where you normally cant jump far enough!

So i recommend that for open world you use Greatsword and Sword/Warhorn on the 2nd Weaponset

I have lvl 30 warrior as well . I’m using GS, axe/wh … when i run around the map use skill 4 on wh … u get swiftness , then swap weapons , use GS skill 3,5 , then 3 again then swap weapons for swiftness again and repeat all . that makes me run around the map faster than anyone else i tried except thief maybe but i’m noob . So its just an advise , not professional opinion

I have a few characters that don’t have a good passive (not a big fan of the active methods) solutions for keeping their speed up, and I just opted to go with Travelers runes.

I won’t get invited to any l33t d00dz meta reind33r gam3s, but I’m happy.

Personally, I think the active skills should remain what they are, override if better, but we all should just get a passive 3.125 speed boost every 10 levels until we’re 80 and all just 25% faster, so I can swap my runes out.

I don’t need to be faster than everyone else all the time, it just ‘feels’ right at this point, and it’s terrible without it.
