Why are Gears Soulbound?

Soulbound just means you can’t equip them on another character. It’s possible your Soulbound gear was a quest reward from your personal story.
Any items of GREEN or better quality are ALWAYS Soulbound on USE (equip them and they become soulbound). As mentioned above, if you get them thru means other than drops (vendors, rewards, etc.) they could be soulbound when you get them.
My main beef with Soulbound is that another character can’t even pick up the item (I get if they can’t equip it). This makes vendoring or flushing old used items a PitA (as you can’t just put them in general inventory for another character to deal with them).

They are just junk trophy drops and only useful as merchant fodder.
