Why can't I mail items to my other characters?
all your crafting materials and bank can be shared with your other characters. there is no need to mail items.
edit: to clarify, when you are at a workstation, there are tabs that say bank and collections. these are shared with your other characters.
also a mildly related tip, if you open your inventory and open the options through the little gear at the top right and select “deposit all collectibles” all crafting materials will be deposited in your collections.

Your collectables bank is shared by all of your account characters.
Beastgate: GoF – Trolling you makes me happy.
one of many steps to combat gold farming since the little buggers like to transfer gold from one toon to another so that the amount they are carrying won’t look quite so suspicious . .
I thought I’d throw one more tip in here, people seem to surprisingly not know this one often. You can use your bank to not only share crafting materials and other items, you can share the in-game gold via your bank, too. All you have to do is use the “Withdraw” and “Deposit” buttons at the bottom of your bank window. This can be done from both bank and any crafting station.

I would actually suspect it to be to make it more difficult to create a mule character to store your items in your mailbox, also offload in the characters bags as well but the main thing is to mule items in an alt’s mailbox.
Seems you can’t mail items to any of your other characters… don’t like that since I want to have some for each of the crafting abilities and mail between them for items or ingredients. Will this be corrected?
Go to any major city and find an NPC tag as “Bank” (as opposed to “Guild Bank”). You can transfer items, materials, and gold in there.
Our personal banks are account-based, which is way better than mailing to your alts. You’ll get used to it and I’m sure you’ll start suggesting an account-based personal bank in other games soon (It has been that way since GW1, fyi.)
Situation (to be skipped by tl;tdrs):
I’m a working man. My brother is currently in between graduating and a first job. I bought the game and promised him 1 slot. He goes ahead and fills 3, not so bad since i’m only using 2. He wants to delete a character, i tell him to salvage everything and even store the silver he’s made. He doesn’t even know where the bank is or what a crafting station is (seriously, he just wants to hit things until they die). I log in on that to-be-deleted character to salvage and mail… can’t mail. i can’t find the bank or crafting station in Char Citadel. Time to go to work. don’t want to waste the still-precious-silver-since-its-hard-to-make-money on the character. He might just delete it without bothering with the transfer. So sad.
Its much easier to transfer stuff from anywhere if you can mail it to yourself instead of using the bank… then thinking back, there is a mini-pet that opens the bank from anywhere IIRC. Tempting… Tempting…
