Why do you play your main?
Because I got good playing her even though she’s not a DPS queen. And in low level zones she’s a vengeful Goddess routinely taking on multiple mobs. Reminds me of scrapper lock in City of Heroes. Not as extreme here but better than the standard “oh no there’s two of them, I’m in trouble” found in most MMOs, including this one when leveling up. Especially after playing a tricked out level 80. Oh do I get into trouble with new characters.
RIP City of Heroes
I play warrior as my main, cause with a new like Buff Badwell how could you not? Seriously though, ask yourself which profession you have the most fun with, which builds and roles you like, and your long term goals in the game. As far as crafting a legendary, its accountbound, so you can use it on multiple characters as needed.
It’s the chain I beat you with until you
recognize my command!”
my long term goals are done. i have 10k+ AP points, 1k + wvw rank, rank 39? in pvp, etc. i have all the weapons i want, never was too interested in the legendaries, not a fan of the way they look. but i think its just time.
i am just looking for something refreshing.
im debating i might use mesmer or warrior? and if that happens i would probably get bolt? but everything is still up in the air.
at the moment i can afford 2 legendaries i just wanna choose something refreshing
My main is a thief. Previously my main was an engi, and then a warrior, but then i fell in love with my evasive rogue. I’ve always liked the stealthy/sneaky classes in games, and i love how your main defense is to not get hit (cus when you do, ouch!). I also LOVE the mobility of a thief. You can port around the map so fast literally nothing can catch up or escape from you. Hey im over here! Nope, now in here. Its so much fun, especially against other melee as they really will be lucky to ever hit you. Ive never really planned on making a legendary as i dont really like any of them. Currently i use a s/d build with Jormag’s Breath and Corrupted shard which IMHO look much better than bolt an incinerator
Legendaries are account bound, right? So just make sure the one you pick can be used on any of your classes It sounds like you played guardian and elementist the most. Despite your current boredom, I would suggest bifrost might be the more interesting one to get. That skin suits both their styles, as well as mesmer,. Probably wouldn’t use one for a necro though.
I personally main an engineer for two reasons. I survive really well with one and he’s the only toon with 80% map completion. All other toons are at ~40% map completion and I really don’t want to have to do that again. If I were to try another toon though, I would probably pick elementist. It’s the only one, like engie, where they have a diverse set of skills to pick from. Playing as warrior, guardian, ranger, necro and theif I thought was really linear. Just 2 weapons and 2 or 3 skills to play with. Bleh.. Give me kits or attunements. I need that diversity. However, I would never get a legendary for an engineer. Pistols and rifles are meh. The predator is better looking than the hunter, and the quip is a party gun. Maybe fun at first, but to hear party popper over and over again… ehhh, no.
im a guy.. im not a fan of pine-cones on a stick that shoots rainbows. lmao
As it happens, my guardian IS my pve main. My thief is my RP main. But for pure pve fun, it turns out I love mesmer most of all. Weapon choice really affects how they play, clones and phantasms require attention but not micromanagement, and they have so darn many survival tricks even when downed … I have 3 mesmers at 80, 1 each of thief, ranger, elementalist, and engineer, and 2 of everything else.
My RP may lean heavily to my thief and my two guardians, and my dungeoning calls for my defense guardian, but for roaming around the world in general pve it’s turned out I just want a mesmer.

But a greatsword that shows a window into the endless void of space, oh yea sign me up for one of those.
Bet you don’t play a mesmer because of purple butterflies aren’t manly.

Thats one of the things that turns me off of mesmer. That and theyre super slow

no i have a mesmer i wouldnt deny an entire class because of an effect. however i will deny a weapon that costs half my bank to get, that has an effect and skill i dont like.
I play my guardian cause I have a fetish for bulk Charrs, big armors, and huge heavy weapons.
my warrior because he’s got all the fractals gear. Though depending on what I do, I alternate to my necro for triple wurms and wvw.
If you have so much money, why make a legendary? Everybody with money has one.
Instead, make a cool looking weapon that is not legendary.
Hulk Roaming Montages/Build Vids
I always rage but never quit.
My ranger is my main because she’s the one I have the most fun playing.
At launch I made 4 characters – a ranger, thief, elementalist and engineer and I added a guardian not long after. (I’d spent all the betas experimenting with classes so I wouldn’t keep making and deleting characters after launch like I normally do.) Whenever I logged in I’d just play whichever I felt like and she quickly became the one I spent the most time on.
I’d kind of suspected that would be the case, ranger was my favourite profession in GW1 as well and (although they play a bit differently) it was the one I was most excited for in this game, but I didn’t want to force myself to stick with it if I ended up not liking it.
“Life’s a journey, not a destination.”
I play my mesmer because I like winning by trolling people and watching them attacking the wrong clone is better than landing a 10k crit. And because of the endless versatility and utility.
