Wicked Rodeo ...pulling my hair out
1. turn off post processing to get rid of the sepia tone, helps with seeing the whirlpools. more useful for dodgy crowd than wicked rodeo but it doesn’t hurt to be able to see better!
2. focus on bursting down the summons. the longer they stay alive the more chances the centaur has to get free hits on you. sharpening stones should be fine but elemental slaying potion is another option.
3. if going ranged I would recommend necromancer(axe or scepter preferably axe for the vuln), mesmer(greatsword) or elementalist(scepter/focus) for whoever is not caithe. the reason is for those is to have unreflectable ranged attacks.
4. the wind walls are actually projectiles so stuff like feedback would be helpful. for that reason you might want to swap the warhorn for another axe. it gives you another option for dealing with the wind walls if you run out of dodges.
I soloed it with my ranger.
For weapons I used LB+GS, GS is good for the evasion frames and the block.
For build I pretty much used the S/A+LG Spotter build but with GS instead of sword/axe
For food I used mango pie to keep myself alive, since there is no time limit, I could just run away a bit and heal
I did it before HoT, so I use river drake + jaguar as pet.
EDIT: I just remembered that if you go solo you use Caith’s skills, so yeah, use the mango pie and the sharpening stone/elemental slayer , but their skills also have evasion frames and a gap closer (like our GS)
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)

Caithe’s skill 3, her version of Death Blossom, reflects projectiles, so have your Caithe player save that to use on wind walls. There will be warning pings on the minimap to show when wind walls are approaching and from what direction.
Thanks all. I did look for the pings on the mini map for those wind walls, but for some reason they were not reliable….sometimes they showed, sometimes they did not.
And I always have post processing off…for some reason I never liked it to begin with so never enabled it.
Thanks for the tip on the ranger spotter build…I’ll check that out.
Also several folks, including Dulfy, suggested this food:
Bowl of Orrian Truffle and Meat Stew
Level: 80
Duration: 30 minutes
Use: +100% chance to gain might when you dodge, +40% to your Endurance refill rate, +10 Experience from kills
Summary: An exceptional bit of food for highly evasive and dodge assisted builds. It also never hurts to have more dodge ability to mitigate damage.
I noticed something about one of the people who soloed this on youtube and made a guide for it. They had 4 combat boosters on (rejuv, strength, speed, and armor) and food too. Although i don’t think this was mentioned in the guide. So I tried this and it was a lot easier. Failed once then got it. Before this I’d been trying with just grape pies and a precision utility so I had a decent bit of practice to feel confident about using all those boosters on one achievement.
Without the boosters the winds can one hit you but with the rejuv and armor you can keep your health full most of the challenge. You can get hit twice in a short space of time and survive. You also have the speed to run around the wind wall and save some dodges.
Hope this helps someone.
We did it with 3 players, but we did it differently. One of us focused on the dodge and avoiding whilst the other two tanked as much as possible. We did the instance 3 times and it worked pretty ok and did not really take that much time. I had that food in my backpack already and used it, but i switched to mango pie for health regen and vitality.
