Q:
Will there be Assasin?
I don’t think there could ever be enough difference between the current thief and the possible assassin to justify making an “assassin” class. Call your thief an assassin and realize the design is at its core a just another assassin, rogue, ninja, stealth class.
Wrekkes-Engineer Kore Rok Thief-Asraithe-Ele
Thief = Assassin
You’ll never see assassin profession in GW2
Few steps on how you can be more assassin than thief
- Wear all black
- Daggers
- Be like this guy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=20QBe43tyVM
Hope that was helpful
erm, what do you call an assasin? i sense some trolling in the force, thief could have been called “mc chicken and nuggets” and its still, ninja, thief, assasin, shadow killer class.
well, i guess we should just let this thread die.

Considering that several of the thief’s abilities like death blossom, scorpion wire, and caltrops shares the same name as assassin skills, I’d say that it’s extremely unlikely that they will also re-introduce assassins.
-Mike Obrien, President of Arenanet
Whell i mostly agree, but i hope some understand the skills of bow and some other things really dont add up to the Assasin theme.
If arena net wants to make “base” classes that can be many things, he better makes a LOT more chance to costumize the classes and there gameplays.
If there wont be a class like purely themed on Assasin, i guess i am off, untill the “east” style expansion comes out.
Thank you for the ansers.
Thief = Assassin. Even the skills are the same.
And I agree. Changing the name was silly.
Thief = Sin not only do to the skill names but do to the shadow step ability and the dual strike skills . All of that plus the fact its a medium armor class adds up to Assassin replacement
Whell if you aks me, that Cluster bomb on the bow is totally not assasin ish.
Be it what you thought of the Assassin in the first place or not the Thief is the replacement for the GW1 Assassin. Same skill names, same shadowstep, same duel daggers. All classes mostly have a ranged option and if you don’t like the ones the Thief uses you don’t have to use a bow.
Another agreement that it was lame to change the name to thief.
Sorry you don’t like any of the classes perhaps this isn’t the right game for you. I’d really just play the game and try to appreciate it as it is rather than saying it doesn’t fit your pre-conceived idea’s of what it should be, thus I won’t play…At first I didn’t like the thief as much because I wanted my old Assassin back but this is a new beast and there is beauty in it as it is, even if it is not the same as the old one…

If you’re basis for if a class suits you or not is having properly themed skills in your own opinion, then you’ll be hard pressed to find one. If you don’t like one weapon skill of a class then simply use a different weapon set. It’s not like Thief can only use short bows.
No offense, but to me, it seems like you’re just nitpicking the things GW 2 has to offer.
