Basically I need a WAY better computer and I’m on a budget. I was wondering if this would run decent-high in WVWVW on 30+ FPS, and if not how well/bad would it handle it?

Thanks!

I got issues with my gtx 680 which is the best single card in the world (expect 690 which is 2 carded), + i5 2500k 4.2. So probably not and definately not over 30 fps in wvw.
Though, mid cards seems to perform well in this game, so maybe, maybe not. be sure to buy a good cpu cooler aswell.

A little tip: If you want AMD. Wait a few weeks. Their new next gen bulldozer named Piledriver Vishera CPUS will be out early – mid october. (FX-4300, 6300. 8350etc)
Buy a rig with the new FX-4300 instead. It probably cost the same as that one.
Buying a CPU 2 weeks before the new updated ones releases is never a good idea, as the prices will drop alot when they come out.

Its the CPU that matters in this game. I just updated from a Radeon HD 5850 1gb to the best single card in the world, the HD radeon 7970 3gb GHZ edition. (sorry dacooli:P) atleast it is for this game. https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/bill-freist-talks-optimization-and-performance And i barely noticed any difference. That proves that my CPU is bottle necking. And i got it OC’ed. so it should be on the same line as a 4100. (yes phenom2’s have better performance/mhz than fx) so i would go for a piledriver OR intel if i was you to keep the CPU from being the bottleneck as mine is now.

GTX 680 is better than amd radeon 7970, nearly every benchmark says that and it’s known. BTW, it also got physx which amd radeon haven’t got. gtx 680 is the best.

Ye i know that’s why i wrote “Atleast in this game it is” and provided the link which should prove it by looking at the chart. :P I agree its better then the radeon in most other games tho.

on topic: Ya it will run it, but as i said i would wait for the 4300.

Simple answere is NO.

One: its an AMD ..and they ‘generaly’ dont run mmo’s like GW2 well .. GW2 specificaly.

Secondly: the gpu is slightly less powerfull than a 450 nvidia ..and that wont run GW on high at high resolutions with good fps.

let me put it this way .. a OC’d 560ti wont run GW on max at 1080p in WvWvW without droping below 30 fps so a 6670 has no chance.

in all honesty if you want the performance your after you want to be able to spend $500 on the CPU, RAM, Motherboard, powersupply. Then aditional funds on a good gpu ,560ti and above is my recommendation, and everythign else ..i.e ..case, cd roms mouse keyboard etc etc. Probably looking at for ‘eveything’ accesseries and all ..about $1000 at a guess. If you already have accessories and are just after the internal components then you could proably get it all for around $700.

its harsh but keeping up to date with computers and having ‘good’ performance in new games is an expensive task.

BTW im from England so my estimates may be of slightly.

Ya, unfortunately the word “budget” with the phrase “run this game max/ultra” just don’t go together. Check my sig for my system and even in WvW zergs it can go down to 30 fps, and my system was about 3500 with keyboard/mouse/monitor.

That system is just not good. The FX-4100 is garbage, when compared to the X4 965. Core for core, it cannot compete. Not to mention the bad power supply that come with it.
That CyberpowerPC can get you maybe med at 45fps, low at 60fps.
Once you start getting more action, fps will drop.

In my sig, 50-60fps constant highest settings. Drops when heavy action on screen to about 35-45fps average.

Yo should check this for performance estimates with different kinds of hardware:
http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/guild-wars-2-performance-benchmark,3268.html

(Update: Because we tested the game’s beta client in order to get this story ready in time for launch, the Guild Wars 2 lead engine programmer, Chad Taylor, dropped us a line to let us know that the game was updated with performance optimizations in the final build. One key change was putting the renderer in its own thread so that blocking driver calls wouldn’t create stoppages in the main game loop. He mentioned that this change should make a notable difference on machines with four or more CPU execution cores, and that a few of the graphics preset options were also tweaked.

As a result of these changes, we’d like to revisit Guild Wars 2 in the near future to re-benchmark CPU performance and update the driver settings images with examples from the full release. Stay tuned for the update, due in mid-September.)

(Update Sept 27: We’ve re-tested the game with the release client and we’re not seeing a notable performance difference. The Core i5 gained a few FPS (as did the AMD FX-4100 to a lesser extent), but all of the other results remain similar to our published numbers. NCSoft let us know that they’re working with AMD to improve FX-series CPU performance, and if this happens in the near future we may revisit Guild Wars 2 with new benchmarks.)

That proves that my CPU is bottle necking.

No, it doesn’t; that is still an assumption. What will prove a CPU-bottle-neck is something showing your CPU is fully utilised and your GPU isn’t. GW2 can fully tax both.

However, my WvWvW drops to 30 FPS were not due to hardware as neither the CPU nor the GPU were anywhere near full load (55% and 25-50% generally). I’ve had this occasionally happen in normal PvE.
