Are Wintersday Gifts more valuable to sell after the holiday event passes or should I start selling them now?

So they are worth more later?

they might be worth more later, but not so much more that I think it’s worth stockpiling them. I’m just selling them now. If you got a use for the money, you might as well just sell ‘em now. I don’t think they’re gonna be more than 2-3s extra

Could be. I am just opening all of mine as I get them.

We can’t tell what will happen to the prices. It always spikes at the beginning of the holiday event because of impatient players buying up initial supplies.

However, where it goes from there depends on supply and demand. E.g trick or treat bags completely collapsed relative to their pre-holiday prices this year because of the lab farm.

Since this is an annual event, you can’t rely on time to diminish supply, say compared to some of the LS1 skins. And remember, there’s always a steady trickle of gifts from the home instance node.

No one can say for certain what prices will do. Typically, prices are highest for festival gifts 6-10 months after the end date of the previous year; they spike again near the start (sometimes for the first 48 hours); they are lowest near the end of the festival.

For this year’s Halloween, price increased right before the start, dropped like a stone and held steady for a while, then dropped again. I picked up some ToTs recently for under 4 silver, about half what it would have cost during much of that festival. Likely, they’ll go up again (and probably not nearly as much as they did in 2016, for reasons outside the scope of the original question).

Sell now if you need the money now; sell in June if you have the inventory room and are likely to remember to list them (and for what price). Alternatively list them now for the price you’re willing to accept, e.g. they were about 10s the first few days, so list them for 10s or so, even though the current price is ~8.

They were high during the last year due to the desire to get the shoulder piece which requires 10K of the wintersday drinks, which dropped 80% of the time. I would imagine there will be fewer people working toward that over the next year.

There is also the Casks that gives 10 points each. Even for people working on it that reduces the demand a bit. On the other hand even with that help at the current rate it will still take me another decade to complete.

I earned about half last year, including buying them for karma. Other half took six months of buying around 30 drinks a day. Now I’m getting some of that back by selling the ones I’m getting from gifts.
