Guild Wars 2

Greetings Tyrians.

I am slowly working towards my first legendary, The Flameseeker Prophecies, but I am struggling with gold.

I know there are a ton of videos on YouTube regarding gold making in Guild Wars 2, though sadly a lot of them are sorely outdated & I am unwilling to spend massive amounts of IRL cash just to obtain a legendary. I’d rather earn it properly via in-game methods alone.

So, suggestions? Should I join the Frostgorge Sound train for hours? Or perhaps I should hop on the world event boss train to farm gold as well as some ascended materials?

Methods that I currently know for making gold:

- Orr Temple events
- Farming & selling hi-tier materials
- Farming Heavy Moldy Bags

Any suggestions or advice is very much appreciated. I will be keeping an eye on this thread & replying where appropriate.

- Dungeons (Gold, loots and token that you can transform into gold). The faster you fight through them, the better. Get comfortable with the meta of you profession and if you can find you a little guild group for faster run.
- Playing TP. That’s the more profitable if you know what you are doing. But if you screw up you can lose money and a lot of people don’t find that fun.
- A lot of different kind of farm. They change over time, and their profitability also change over time. I include in there champion bags farm, bosses blitz farm, material farm, key farm, events farm, etc.

My suggested order of things to get:
1) Gift of Battle + Bloodstone Shard + Gift of Exploration
2) Mystic Clover
3) Gift of Mastery
4) Precursor + 100 Icy Runestone
5) Gift of Legendary
6) Gift of Magic + Gift of Might + Gift of Fortune
7) Legendary

the reason for it is to find things you normally find while collecting unbuyables (karma, SP, map completion), so that when you go to buy them, you won’t need as much. same for collecting gold for precursor: be collecting T6 mats for Gift of M&M at the same time.
What are you low on besides gold?
map completion is obvious: complete it :P
if you’re low on karma or SP or badges, I recommend EotM train
if you’re low on karma, I recommend underleveled fractals (have your personal level be at least 30, then run fractals that are 10 levels below your personal level – so 20 or so)

if you’re only low on gold, here are the top few gold sources that come to mind (in approximate order of g/hour): TP trading, crafting, guild commendations, daily dungeons, gathering common-yet-expensive crafting materials (platinum, iron, soft wood, etc.), world bosses, champ train. I’m sure there are other farming methods I don’t know of that should be on this short list, but I don’t know of them :P

If you’re not playing for fun, why is working overtime not an option? If you’re hell bent on making money in a game, and you’re boring yourself to do that, why not do it in a time efficient and productive manner?

Just an FYI, you will be much happier playing for fun and taking 6 months than grinding through boring methods for your pixels, only to lack the will to play after 2 weeks.

play normal, don’t rush. i made my sunrise in a slow pace too. It is a game which serve as entertainment. Unless the gold earning method is fun to you, don’t turn a game into job.

Farming the gold boss blitz gets you tons of mats and money, thats what I’d recommend. If you can learn to play the TP, that works too, but thats risky and difficult.

I’d agree, I was there for one afternoon recently, but those things are an absolute pain to get into, and it would make sense to just spend the $60 on gems than buying a new mouse as spam clicking “join overflow” is sure to ruin it :P

CoF path 1,2
HotW path 1

altogether just a little over 2 hours with an average group, yields around 12g gold, karmas and tokens.

TA is pretty fast. Ariund 12 min fwd and 15-20 up if nice party
