Guild Wars 2

Just started the game today, already sorta running into something disheartening. My husband and I play these games together, and we’ve always had the same character names in every game we play (since original EQ). We are finding out this is now an issue with GW2.

Since you can’t really move from World to World trying to find one that both names are available (which is what we normally do), anyone have any suggestions on what we could do?

When we bought the game, in the signing up process we saw the 4 digit number thing, and thought “Great, we can have our names on any server we want, and if we’re in the same area or group, those numbers will just show up.” But when we created our characters, we found out quickly this is not the case.

Names are the same on every server.

As for having the same name just make a character with a last name.

To clarify a little, names are unique across all servers. If a character on Tarnished Coast is named “Bob”, then nobody on Yak’s Bend (or any other server) can be named “Bob” either.

You could add something to your name such as a middle initial or vary it in some way.

You can have first and last names too.

Send a mail to the character name you want offering to buy it from them.

Thank you very much with the responses, I didn’t know about having last names. That should solve our problem right there.
