Q:
Would this be a bad idea?
That depends on your class and what you want to do.
You can get away with power/prec/crit damage in dungeons if you’re skilled and know how to avoid attacks. Some PUG dungeons like CoF p1 where DPS is king will ONLY take full zerker 4warrior + mesmer.
Thieves and mesmers can also get away with it because they have a lot of deception and escape skills.
If you plan to sPvP or WvW I would recommend taking some vitality or toughness, maybe a mix of both.
Some classes like necros don’t really need crit damage, as they focus on conditions, and would benefit more from power,toughness/vitality,cond damage or duration.
And then you have some classes like eles that actually have higher damage by taking defensive trait-lines because they have offensive major traits in them.
So, with all that, what’s your class and what do you think you’ll focus on?

If you trait into power / prec, you are going to do a lot of damage, but be easier to take down. As long as you know how to time dodges and use your professions defensive mechanics, you will be fine.
If you like to stay in one place and spam skills, plan for higher toughness / vitality.
Thanks for the answers, I’m a thief, and going for a backstab/stealth build so I think I’ll be alright going fully power/crit

I completely agree. Once you get all your power/prec/crit damage gear, if you get bored, you and work on power,toughness/vit,cond damage gear and try out a condition thief. I wouldn’t consider it as viable, but its nice to change it up. Also, cond thief sword/dagger is amazing at locking down eles.
