I bought the Krytan armor set from gem store, and used it on my new character starter set armor. Now that I’m higher level I bought a new armor set the level 14 masterwork, I try use transmuting stone and it don’t work. How the hell am i supposed to rewear this because it’s stupid if I have to pay again

Transmutation, iirc, is a one way process and once you transmute something you can’t untransmute it and use the transmuted items to transmute another item. Does that make sense?

Not really but your telling me I have to pay again for another set? Because if so that’s stupid!!! Why isn’t it like it was in original GW where some guy just gives you it after you paid for it, it’s the same price.

Have you tried emailing Anet directly? As this is related to the store, and cash purchases, it’s kind of their business.

Also, if you look at the forum title, this is Players helping Players. If you’re fishing for Anet responses here, you’re not going to get any.

After you transmuted your starter set based on the Krytan armor set’s appearance, you can now transmute your new set based on the starter’s set appearance (which it should have inherited from the Krytan one).

If that doesn’t work, that’s a bug, and I’d contact ArenaNet.

You should be able to keep applying that look to whatever you transmute.

Yes I tried this, even tried putting the Krytan armor on the left or right side, and there both obviously medium set it’s not like I’m trying to cross it, and the button to confirm just stays greyed out.

Can you buy the set and only transmute like the boots of the set? Or does it transmute all your armor?

Was either of armors bought from karma vendor? (hearts?) Not sure if it affects transmutation but since they made items bought with karma unsalvageable and unsellable i think there is high chance it affects transmutation too

Are you sure the two pieces of armour are in the same category? (i.e. heavy, medium, or light?) Hope to find the solution to your problem soon!

Wow, well I’m glad I didn’t buy it as this was on my mind as well. What a joke! Hopefully they’ll fix that!

lol obviously, and I don’t think there is a solution, this is just a bug. I’m unable to go back in store to my Set to try get another sent out because it asks me to pay 500 gem again loooooooool

Nope, I’ve transmuted the model of karma items onto others and vice versa.
What he’s experiencing is without a doubt a bug, and it should be fixed immediately.
If they don’t fix it, then the style items you buy should be infinitely redeemable because that is unacceptable.

Unless it’s not a bug and cash shop styles are one time transmute only, that’s even worse.

does not matter which side either armor piece is. the transmute is greyed out until you choose which options to merge into your new armor piece.

e.g. the top option will be the “look” – you would choose your old krytan look, the next option down is the main armor stats – choose the new upgraded piece.. the last option is the upgrades (if any)

Since he already transmuted once, I think he knows how it works.

I think I know the problem here… Gem store armor works like the heritage armor, you just double click and drag the armor who’s stats you want into the armor. Transmutation stones work differently, as someone alluded to.
Just for you the OP, let me explain how it works with stones: After you have each piece on each side of the transmutation GUI you have to click each row individually to select which choice you want, after you do that for each row the button at the bottom should no longer be grayed out and everything should work then.

Basic transmuting stones and my gear is the starter gear, I merged that with Krytan Armor, and am now trying to merge it with level 14 gear.

Hi, I tried what you said as I didn’t actually try that before, but still no luck. After doing all the sliding it just says; Stat item cannot upgrade.

Nvm I figured it out, you just use the transmuting stone but I was moving the sliders wrong, it does work thanks.

I think a better idea for the store bought gem outfits would be to have them just like the heritage set. Once you buy it and it`s unlocked you can just go to the hall of monuments to get another set off the npc there.

I totally agree. It would make it a lot more like the way costumes worked in GW1.

The way it is now, you have to keep the actual armor pieces with those gem-bought skins, somewhere in your inventory. If you lose one, that gem value is gone for good. Skins you buy with gems should be unlocked so that you forever have access to them, just like the HoM. Maybe just add them to the HoM nventory, or have a costume NPC in the main cities you can go to to recover those skins later. They should do the same with Tier armor as well.

The way it works now is the only reason I haven’t bought that sweet Krytan set for my Thief. I fell in love with the appearance during the last BWE, but hated the mechanic to obtain it.
