Guild Wars 2

Since i started this game i tried WvW a few times for a few mins, was neat. but also noticed one server was besting the other two the times i was on. its gonna happen, i know that, theres not going to be nicey-nicey ‘its your turn’ kind of thing going on. bear with me.

i signed on to wvw tonight after i hit level 80, hooked myself up with some decent karma pvp gear, and set out. within 10mins our server had been beaten back to our portals, we couldnt get out. i noticed on the wvw screen small world map, that that dominating server, the one that was owning the other two servers since i started this game on aug 25th, had over 3/4 of the world map theirs, and over 30k points, to our 11k and the 3rd server at almost 9k. i went to every front…..on every front my server was backed up to the portals, we simply could not get out. this is supposed to be fun? when you spend 10mins and die 6x just trying to get out of your bg entrance just to give up and end up having to spend very valuable (at the time, we didnt have any broker and still have sporadic ah use) coin on repairs, for what, to get our butts kicked in as soon as we walk outside? im not going to hurry and max level my crafts just so i have enough to pay for getting pounded into the dirt next to my portals every 2mins for an hour or so. i dont expect a free ride but im not paying for my own suicide.

i mainly pvp, and only really enjoy it at max level here and elsewhere. but are we going to be stuck with the same realms to fight all the time? if so i wont be on this game very long. out of everything i read about this game i dont recall seeing anything about being stuck with the same servers to fight. as i said i like the pvp, but this is not fun to log onto a bg and be dominated before you even get to fire a shot 20feet down the road, being cannon fodder through no fault of my own. WvW is fine, but would be nice to start a bg evenly then see how it turns out, instead of having it going constantly and never getting to do anything just because i dont log on at 5am or whatever when the people on the dominating server go to bed and give us a break, if they do at all. that alone will drive many people, like me who enjoy pvp, away.

Currently WvW matches are rematched to new opponents every 24 hours, the purpose of this is to rate and balance the servers. Eventually the matches will go back to being two weeks long, and theoretically matches should be somewhat even as you’ll be against similarly rated servers. WvW is an on-going battle, the only time you get the clean slate is after a re-matching.
