Salutations,
I have recently returned to the game and I would gear up my engineer midget for PvE.
I have asked in zone chat and I’ve been told: Temples of CoF.
CoF requires too many tokens for now and I would go for the ones for Temples.
Why would be the downsides?
I understand that that gear cannot be salvaged, but my questions are:
When / Why would I want to do that (salvage the zerk armors)?
I don’t have the means to craft ascended now, maybe in the far future…

Well you don’t have to craft up to ascended for Berserker gear. You can craft exotic zerk gear as well. I think you only need to level it to 400 which is actually pretty easy if you have a decent collection of mats and maybe some spending $. A crafting xp booster works wonders so use it if you ever decide to get started on crafting disciplines.

There’s no real reason not to get it from the Temple of Grenth (make sure you get it from that temple from keeper jonez. It’s the only one with berserker stat armor).
It’s the exact same as any other berserker exotic armor but yeah, it can’t be salvaged. That doesn’t really matter at all. If for some reason you decide you want to get rid of the armor, you can toss the pieces into the mystic forge.

Only thing is that the temples don’t have any berserker stat trinkets or weapons available so you’ll have to acquire those elsewhere.

Different thing. Sinister is actually better now on an engineer, but Bezerker is still very good.

The Drawback of temple armor like you said is when you want to salvage it. Thing like scholar rune are pretty expansive. So you if even want to change you gear stats in the future or make ascended, then you gonna lose your rune. The problem is especially harsh for profession like Warrior that use the very expensive Rune of Strength.

Also, Dungeon is a very good place to gain gold, so for most people getting an armor/weapons from there is rather easy. You can also get those same armor/weapons from PvP reward track.

You can also buy them from the TP. They are not that expansive. You can craft if, but it will be more expansive than buying them of the TP. I would only craft my exotic armor when I level up my crafting to 500. Because between 400 and 500 you want to craft exotic gear, so better to craft something you can use. The best would be a mix of different method to reach your goal faster.
