so i just finished deciding what weapon sets i want to have.

Im trying to use sword and pistol in one set
second set being pistol dagger

i want to use the same pistol in both sets so that when i swap to pistol dagger the same pistol is used.

I cannot figure out how to do this, and i cannot understand why anet would prevent us from doing this?

I hope im doing something wrong and somebody can show me how to do this lol

Nope, it’s just the way it’s designed, because your sets are actual equippable slots and not just definitions of what to put in each hand. If you want the same item in two sets, you need a second copy of the item.

Well, if you wanted to use the pistol in the mainhand in both sets it would be possible. You’d leave the mainhand weapon in one set empty and just put your desired offhand swap there. For example, if you wanted to run pistol/dagger and pistol/pistol, your first set would be pistol 1/ dagger, and your second set would be nothing / pistol 2. When you swapped, you’d be wielding pistol 1/ pistol 2.

There’s no way to swap the same item from mainhand to offhand, however, because as Leablo said, they are different slots.

actually if you wanted offhand pistol in both sets you only need to equip it in one set, but becasue you want it as main hand in one and offhand in the other, that is not possible

Alternatively if the pistol you want isn’t too expensive you could get two of them.

yeah unfortunately its a legendary pistol… i bought it planning to do this…. great lol

Just wasted time and money haha.

Hopefully anet didn’t intend to make this impossible to do and are willing to implement a fix. What reasons could they have for not allowing this?

another ‘problem’ might be that when you have the same weapon in both sets, you still have to deal with the skill charge times. Switching to the same weapon and your charge time still remains from your previous set. It wouldn’t affect the gun too much since there is a small recharge time but others may be useless due to this..

but i change the pistol to the offhand so it uses the 2 seperate skills that wont be on recharge

however im sure if you have two sets of the same weapon type and switch they are still recharging.
Thats in regards to other classes ofcourse and thieves dont have recharge times..
